How to Get to Playa de Cala Nova

Getting to Playa de Cala Nova is surprisingly simple, given its proximity to Palma. For us, comfort of access is a key factor when choosing a beach, and Cala Nova fulfills this premise with flying colors. We are just a few kilometers from the city center, which allows us to easily combine a beach day with a visit to the city or any other activity.

By Car

If we choose the car, the route is direct and well signposted. From the center of Palma, we'll take the Ma-1 towards Andratx, and in a few minutes we'll find the signs for Cala Mayor and, subsequently, Cala Nova. The beach is located right next to the marina. Regarding parking, although it doesn't have its own large parking lot directly on the sand, spaces can usually be found on the adjacent streets and in the vicinity of the Calanova marina, some of them paid (blue zone) and others free, depending on the season and time of day. We recommend arriving early, especially in summer, to secure a good spot.

By Public Transport

For those who prefer public transport, the most comfortable option is the bus. Several lines of the EMT (Municipal Transport Company) of Palma have stops very close to Playa de Cala Nova. The lines connecting the center of Palma with this coastal area are frequent and efficient. It's an excellent way to avoid parking stress and enjoy the scenery during the journey. We usually check the EMT app or Google Maps to find out the most convenient schedules and stops at the time of our visit.

By Bicycle or on Foot

If we are lovers of exercise and the outdoors, Playa de Cala Nova is accessible on foot or by bicycle via the bike lane that runs along the Palma Paseo Marítimo. It's a very pleasant route that allows us to enjoy the views of the bay and the coastal atmosphere. For us, this is a fantastic option for a morning or evening walk, combining sport and relaxation.

What impresses us most is their tranquility. Thanks to its location sheltered by the marina and the small lateral rock formations, the waves are minimal, creating a kind of perfect natural pool. This calm makes entering the sea very gentle and gradual, with little depth for several meters, which is ideal for children and for those who don't feel comfortable in deep water.

We have enjoyed countless swims in these waters, and we are always surprised by the feeling of peace they convey. The underwater visibility is excellent, allowing us to observe small fish and marine life near the rocks, making snorkeling a very rewarding activity, even for beginners. The water temperature, especially in the summer months, is very pleasant, inviting us to spend long hours cooling off and enjoying the Mediterranean.
