Today we're diving into the charm of Cala Llonga, a destination that, for us, represents the quintessence of a relaxed family beach among the Balearic beaches. Strategically located in the municipality of Santa Eulalia, this cove is much more than just a sandy stretch; it's a small universe where time seems to stand still, and worries dissolve with the gentle sway of the waves.

From the moment we set foot in Cala Llonga, we feel embraced by its serene and welcoming atmosphere. Surrounded by lush pine-covered hills, the bay opens to the Mediterranean Sea with a natural elegance that invites rest and enjoyment. Its waters, of a hypnotic turquoise blue, are so transparent that we can see the sandy bottom with astonishing clarity, making it a paradise for bathers and the little ones. How to Get to Cala Llonga

Getting to Cala Llonga is surprisingly simple, which adds an extra point to its appeal, especially for those traveling with children or seeking maximum comfort. We always recommend exploring the different options so each traveler finds the one that best suits their needs and preferences.

By Car

If we're coming from the capital, Ibiza town, the drive takes approximately 20-25 minutes. We take the PM-810 road towards Santa Eulalia and, before reaching the town center, we find clear signs for Cala Llonga. The road is good and the landscape, as expected in Ibiza, is charming, dotted with fields and traditional farmhouses. From Santa Eulalia, the journey is even shorter, just 10 minutes. Upon arrival, we find several parking areas, some free and others paid, which makes life much easier, although in high season they can fill up quickly, so we always advise arriving early to secure a good spot.

Public Transport

For those who prefer to leave the car aside, public transport is an excellent alternative. There are regular bus lines connecting Cala Llonga with Ibiza town and Santa Eulalia. During the summer months, the frequency is higher, allowing for flexible and worry-free travel. It's a very comfortable option to avoid parking stress and enjoy the scenery without rush. Furthermore, from Santa Eulalia, we can also opt for a pleasant ferry ride that takes us directly to the cove, offering spectacular views of the coast. It's an experience we always recommend!

Other Means

For the more adventurous or those seeking a different experience, it's also possible to reach it by bicycle from Santa Eulalia via signposted routes, although the terrain may have some slopes. Another charming option is the aforementioned ferry, which connects the cove with Santa Eulalia and Ibiza town, offering a unique perspective of the Ibizan coastline and a very picturesque journey, ideal for enjoying the sea before stepping onto the sand.

The Sand and Water

Here lies much of the charm of Cala Llonga, and it's something that always captivates us. The sand is certainly one of its strong points. It's of a fine and golden type, incredibly soft to the touch, making it perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the children, or simply lying down to enjoy the sun without discomfort. There are no rocks or pebbles to hinder the walk, making it a very uniform and pleasant sandy area, ideal for all ages.

But if the sand conquers us, the water completely captivates us. The waters of Cala Llonga are famous for their transparency and turquoise blue hue. Being a deep and well-protected bay, the sea here is exceptionally calm, almost like a natural pool. The absence of strong currents and the gentle slope of the seabed make it an ideal place for bathing, even for less experienced swimmers and, especially, for the little ones at home. We are always amazed by the water's clarity; it's so crystal clear that we can observe fish swimming at our feet without needing diving goggles.

The type of seabed predominant in the bathing area is sandy, which guarantees a smooth and comfortable entry into the sea. This combination of fine sand and calm, shallow waters at the shore creates a safe and relaxing environment, inviting us to spend hours and hours splashing and enjoying the Mediterranean at its best. For us, it's the perfect definition of a paradisiacal beach where nature has been generous and the surroundings invite total disconnection.

One of the aspects we most value about Cala Llonga is the impressive range of services and facilities that make it an extremely comfortable and functional beach. It's not a wild cove, but a destination designed for full and worry-free enjoyment, making it one of our favorites for stress-free beach days on the Balearic beaches.

Upon arrival, the first thing we notice is the ease of finding Parking, with designated areas that, although they can fill up in high season, offer options to park our vehicle. Once on the sand, the comfort continues: we have Showers to rinse off the salt and sand before heading home, and clean, accessible Bathrooms/WCs, a detail that is always appreciated, especially when traveling with children.
