Located in the idyllic municipality of Santanyí, in the southeast of the island, this cove is much more than just a beach; it's a haven of peace and natural beauty that has stolen our hearts since our first visit.

Let's imagine together a small inlet, sheltered from the wind, where the fine white sand blends with waters of such an intense turquoise blue that it looks like it's from a postcard. Surrounded by low cliffs and pine trees that offer natural shade on the hottest days, Cala Llombards is the epitome of Mediterranean tranquility. It's the perfect place to disconnect, for children to play safely in its shallow waters, and for us adults to immerse ourselves in the calm and recharge our batteries. How to get to Cala Llombards

Getting to Cala Llombards is relatively straightforward, although we always recommend planning your route, especially during high season. From Palma, the capital, the drive usually takes about 45-50 minutes, following the Ma-19 towards Santanyí. Once in Santanyí, the signage to the cove is quite clear, guiding us along secondary roads that wind through fields and small developments until we reach our destination.

By car

It is, without a doubt, the most comfortable and flexible option. The cove has a nearby parking area, although in the summer months it can fill up quickly. Our advice is to arrive early in the morning to secure a good spot. Some sections of the parking may be paid or have time limits, so it's important to pay attention to the signs. Driving through the area is a pleasure, with typically Mallorcan landscapes that invite you to roll down the windows and enjoy the fresh air.

Public transport

Public transport options are more limited. There are bus lines connecting Palma with Santanyí, but from the town to the cove, the frequency is lower and may require a good walk or a taxi. If you're staying in Santanyí or a nearby town, consider a taxi or even renting a bicycle for the more adventurous, although the final path to the cove has some slopes.

The sand and the water

The heart of any beach, and Cala Llombards is no exception, lies in its sand and its waters. And here, the cove does not disappoint; on the contrary, it exceeds all expectations. The sand is immaculate white, fine and soft to the touch, perfect for building sandcastles or simply for walking barefoot feeling the caress of the small grains under our feet.

A sea of tranquility

The waters of Cala Llombards are simply spectacular. Their transparency is astonishing, allowing us to see the seabed with a crystal clarity that invites us to dive in immediately. The color, a hypnotic mix of blues and turquoises, is due to the combination of the white sand and the shallow depth of the shore. Furthermore, being protected by the surrounding cliffs, the cove usually has very gentle, almost non-existent waves, making it an exceptionally safe place for swimming, especially for the little ones in the family.

The seabed

The predominant type of bottom is sand, which makes entering the water easy and comfortable for walking. However, on the sides of the cove, near the rocks, we can find small rocky formations that are a paradise for snorkeling. With a mask and snorkel, we can explore an underwater world full of colorful fish and marine life, an experience we highly recommend. The combination of fine sand and calm waters makes it ideal for enjoying without worries.

Services and facilities

Although Cala Llombards retains a natural charm and a relaxed atmosphere, it does not lack the essential services that make our stay even more pleasant. Comfort is key when we visit a beach, and here we find what we need to spend a perfect day under the Mallorcan sun.

Chiringuito and dining

One of the most appreciated services is the chiringuito that is usually set up in the cove. It's the ideal place to refresh yourself with a cold drink, enjoy an ice cream, or even savor a light meal with sea views. Its informal atmosphere and proximity to the sand make it very convenient, avoiding the need to carry a lot of food from home. We can find everything from sandwiches and salads to some more elaborate dishes, always with that Mediterranean touch we love so much.

Essential amenities

To ensure our comfort, the beach has showers to wash off the salt and sand before heading home, as well as bathrooms/WCs which are a relief, especially when traveling with children. Furthermore, during the high season, sunbed and umbrella rentals are usually offered, which is ideal if we prefer to travel light and not worry about bringing our own gear. This allows us to relax comfortably in the sun without having to carry all the beach equipment.

Safety and accessibility

Safety is a priority at Cala Llombards. During the summer months, the cove has a lifeguard service, giving us extra peace of mind knowing that professionals are watching over our safety and that of our children. However, we should mention that, due to its natural configuration with stairs and steep ramps to access the sand, the beach does not offer full accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
