How to get to Cala Codolar

Getting to Cala Codolar beach is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it is quite straightforward if you have your own vehicle. From San José, the journey is short and well signposted, following the signs towards the west coast. We will find a road that will guide us through typically Ibizan landscapes, with fields and pine forests announcing the proximity of the sea. The cove is not in an excessively urbanized area, which contributes to its natural charm and helps maintain its tranquil atmosphere.

Directions and Parking

To get there, we will generally take the PM-803 road towards Cala Conta or Cala Bassa and, at some point, we will find the turn-offs towards Cala Codolar. It is crucial to pay attention to the signs, as being a smaller cove, the indications may be less prominent than for larger beaches. Once nearby, you will notice that access is via a secondary road that gently descends to the cove. At the end of this road, we will find an enabled Parking area, although in the high season months, especially in August, we may have to look for parking in the surrounding area or a bit further up and walk a few minutes. Our recommendation is to arrive early to secure a good spot, both in the parking lot and on the sand. It is not a cove that is easily accessible by public transport, so a car or motorbike is almost essential to enjoy the comfort of arrival.

The sand and the water

Cala Codolar beach welcomes us with a perfect combination of natural elements that make it irresistible. The sand is predominantly fine and of a soft golden color, very pleasant to the touch and perfect for sunbathing. Although at the ends of the cove and in the nearby rocky areas we can find some gravel or stones, the central part is ideal for those seeking the comfort of sand. It is a small cove, which gives it an intimate and cozy atmosphere, very different from the large sandy expanses of other Ibiza beaches.

A crystal-clear sea

But if there is something that truly captivates us about Cala Codolar, it is its waters. They are of astonishing transparency, with shades ranging from the lightest turquoise blue to emerald green, depending on the sunlight and depth. The calmness of its waters, protected by the surrounding cliffs, makes it a perfect natural swimming pool for bathing, even for the little ones. The underwater visibility is exceptional, making it a fabulous place to practice snorkeling. We love diving in and discovering the marine life that inhabits the rocks and the Posidonia oceanica seagrass, an indicator of the excellent quality of its waters. The feeling of floating in this crystal-clear sea is truly restorative, an experience we recommend to everyone who visits this wonderful cove.

Services and facilities

Although Cala Codolar beach is a rather small and tranquil cove, it does not lack the essential services that allow us to enjoy a comfortable day at the beach. It is important to manage our expectations, as we will not find the same infrastructure as on larger, more crowded beaches, but what it offers, it does with a special charm and very integrated into the natural surroundings.

Amenities at the beach

The most notable and appreciated service at Cala Codolar is, without a doubt, its Chiringuito. This establishment, often run by local people, offers us the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing drink, an ice cream, or even a light meal without having to leave the beach. It is the perfect place to take shelter from the sun at midday and savor local cuisine with sea views. Furthermore, the chiringuito is usually in charge of offering Sun umbrellas and sun loungers, which we can rent to ensure our comfort during the day. This is especially useful on days with higher visitor numbers, as it guarantees us a comfortable and shaded spot. As mentioned earlier, we also have a Parking area to facilitate access to the cove, a crucial point for visitor comfort. During the summer months, and to ensure the safety of bathers, it is common to have Lifeguards present, which gives us additional peace of mind, especially if we are with children. However, it is important to remember that, being a more natural cove, we may not find showers or public toilets as easily as on beaches
