This cove is not the typical image of white sand one might imagine when thinking of Ibiza; on the contrary, its uniqueness lies precisely in its sand, of a dark toasted color and a coarser texture, which gives it a rustic charm and an unmistakable personality. From the first moment one spots Cala Boix, you realize you're in front of something special. How to Get to Cala Boix

Getting to Cala Boix is part of the adventure and charm of discovering this Ibizan corner. Its semi-hidden location protects it from overcrowding but requires a bit of planning. We always recommend renting a car or a motorbike to have total freedom of movement on the island, and for Cala Boix it's almost essential. From Santa Eulalia, the journey takes about 15-20 minutes by car, following the signs towards San Carlos and then turning off onto a well-signposted rural road.

Once we approach the cove, the road becomes a bit narrower and winding, descending towards the coast. We'll see a parking area that, although not excessively large, usually has spaces available, especially if we arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon. In high season, the parking may be paid or spaces may be scarce, so keep that in mind. From the parking lot, access to the beach is via some fairly steep wooden stairs or a path with a certain slope. It's not a difficult access, but it's important to mention it for those traveling with baby strollers or people with reduced mobility, as full accessibility is not a feature of this cove. However, the short walk is well worth it, as each step brings us closer to the serenity of its waters.

The Sand and Water

The most distinctive feature of Cala Boix is, without a doubt, its sand. Unlike most Balearic beaches, which boast white, fine sand, here we find sand of a dark ochre color, almost reddish in some spots, and with a coarse texture. This type of sand, which doesn't stick to the body as much as fine sand, is a delight for the feet and gives the cove a very particular and wild aesthetic. It's the result of the erosion of the surrounding rocks, rich in minerals, which have dyed the shore this very special tone.

And if the sand is unique, the waters of Cala Boix are not far behind. They are incredibly transparent and of a blue-green color that invites you to swim from the first moment. Thanks to the protection of the surrounding cliffs, the sea is usually calm, making it a perfect natural pool for swimming and relaxing. The entry into the water is gentle, although the depth increases gradually, making it suitable for different levels of swimmers. We love diving into these cool waters and feeling the sun warm our skin as we float, observing the seabed through the clarity of the water. The visibility is excellent, making it an ideal place to practice snorkeling and discover the marine life that inhabits the rocks and nearby posidonia seagrass meadows.

Although Cala Boix is a beach that retains a natural and somewhat wild air, it is not devoid of basic services that guarantee a comfortable and pleasant stay. As we already mentioned, it has a parking area at the top, although with limited capacity. Once on the beach, the offer is simple but sufficient to enjoy a full day of sun and sea.

One of the main attractions are its chiringuitos. Typically, you'll find a couple of options right on the beach or very close to it, offering everything from refreshing drinks and ice creams to delicious meals with Mediterranean flavor. It's the perfect place to recharge with a good plate of fresh fish or a paella, while enjoying the sea views. These chiringuitos usually also have toilets/WCs for their customers. Furthermore, it's common to find the option of renting umbrellas and sun loungers, which allows us to relax to the maximum without having to carry our own equipment. Although it doesn't have the Blue Flag distinction, which certifies a series of services and qualities, the cleanliness of its waters and surroundings is notable. Regarding safety, there usually isn't a permanent lifeguard service, so we always recommend taking extra precautions, especially if you're traveling with children or if you're not experienced swimmers.
