How to Get to Praia de las Bicas

Getting to Praia de las Bicas is part of the adventure. This beach is located in the municipality of Sesimbra, within the Setúbal district, which means that, although it is not in the heart of the city of Setúbal, it is accessible from there with a car journey of approximately 40-50 minutes. The route takes us through picturesque landscapes, offering a preview of the natural beauty that awaits us.

By Car

The car is, without a doubt, the most comfortable and recommended option to get to Praia de las Bicas. From Setúbal, we will take the A2 and then turn off towards Sesimbra, following the signs to Meco or Alfarim. There is a free parking lot at the top of the cliff, although its capacity is limited, especially in high season. From the parking lot, access to the beach is via a trail and stairs, which adds a touch of adventure to the arrival. We recommend going early to secure a good spot.

Public Transport

Public transport to get directly to Praia de las Bicas is more limited. We can take a bus from Setúbal to Sesimbra, and from there, try to get a taxi or local transport to the beach. However, frequency and connections can be a challenge, so for a smoother experience, the car is the best choice. For those who prefer not to drive, there is always the option of a taxi or a VTC service from Sesimbra or even from Setúbal, although the cost will be higher.

The Sand and the Water

As we descend the trail towards Praia de las Bicas, the first thing that captivates us is the expanse of its sand. It is a fine sand beach, with golden tones that shine under the Portuguese sun. The feeling of walking barefoot on it is one of pure softness, inviting us to relax and enjoy every step. Parking

As mentioned, we have a parking lot at the top of the cliff. It is a basic but highly valued service, as it facilitates car access to the beach. However, its limited capacity reminds us that, on the busiest days, it is crucial to arrive early to secure a space.

Lifeguards

During the high summer season (generally from June to September), the beach has a lifeguard service. The presence of lifeguards gives us greater peace of mind, especially given the characteristics of the Atlantic waves. It is essential to respect the flags and instructions of the staff to ensure our safety and that of our companions.

Absence of Other Services

It is important to note that, due to its more pristine nature, Praia de las Bicas does not have services such as showers, permanent public toilets, fixed beach bars (chiringuitos), rental of umbrellas and sunbeds, or organized sports and children's areas. This contributes to its wild charm and the feeling of being in a less exploited place. Our recommendation is to bring everything you need for the day: water, food, an umbrella, towels, and everything we might need for our comfort.
