How to Get to Praia de Comporta

Getting to Praia de Comporta is part of the adventure and, fortunately, quite straightforward. We always recommend a car, as it will give you the freedom to explore the surroundings and the other beaches of Setúbal in total comfort. Comporta is located approximately an hour and a half's drive south of Lisbon. The route is scenic, crossing impressive bridges and rural landscapes that already begin to prepare us for the relaxed atmosphere of the region.

From Lisbon:

• By car: The most popular option. We take the A2 motorway heading south, then the exit to the A12 (if we cross the Vasco da Gama Bridge) or the A2 (if we cross the 25 de Abril Bridge) and follow the signs towards Grândola/Alcácer do Sal. From there, the signs to Comporta are clear. The journey takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on traffic and whether we make any stops to admire the scenery. There are parking lots, some paid during high season, right next to the beach or nearby.
• Public transport: It's possible, but less practical. We could take a train from Lisbon (Sete Rios or Entrecampos Station) to Setúbal, and then a ferry to Troia. Once in Troia, we would need a taxi or a local bus to Comporta. This option is longer and requires more planning, but offers different views of the Sado estuary.

From Faro (Algarve):

• By car: If we're coming from the south of Portugal, the journey is a bit longer, about 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours, mainly on the A2 motorway. It's a pleasant trip that allows us to see how the landscape changes from the Algarve to the Alentejo Litoral.
