How to get to Praia da Alagoa

Getting to Praia da Alagoa is surprisingly easy, one of its great advantages. The beach is located on a peninsula, connected to the city of Faro by a bridge. This makes it very accessible for both residents and tourists arriving at Faro Airport, which is just a few minutes away by car.

By car

If you choose to drive, access is direct from Faro. There is a bridge that crosses the Ria Formosa and takes you directly to the beach. Once there, you will find several parking areas, both free and paid, especially in high season. It is advisable to arrive early during the summer months to secure a good spot, as the beach is very popular.

By public transport

For those who prefer not to drive, there is a regular bus service connecting the center of Faro with the beach. It is an economical and comfortable option, ideal for not worrying about parking. The stops are well signposted and the schedules are frequent, especially in summer. We have used this service ourselves and recommend it for its efficiency.

From Faro Airport

The airport is just a stone's throw away. You can take a taxi, an Uber/Bolt, or even a specific bus that will drop you off at the beach in no time, making it a fantastic option for a quick getaway right after landing.

The sand and the water

Praia da Alagoa is famous for its fine, golden sand, which invites long barefoot walks and building sandcastles with the little ones. It is a soft, pleasant-to-the-touch sand that warms under the Algarve sun, inviting us to lie down and completely relax.

The waters here are predominantly calm and clean, with a gentle slope that makes them very safe for swimming, especially for children and the elderly. The absence of strong currents or sharp rocks in the bathing area is a plus. The color of the water varies between blue and greenish tones, often crystal clear, and its temperature is very pleasant during the summer months, inviting you to cool off again and again. We always appreciate the clarity of the water, which allows you to see the sandy bottom and enjoy a worry-free swim.

The beach is protected from the large Atlantic waves by the barrier islands of the Ria Formosa, which contributes to the calmness of its waters. It is a place where the tides are not excessively pronounced, although it is good to pay attention to the tide schedules to plan your activities on the shore.

• Sunbeds and umbrellas: There are concessions where you can rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds to secure your spot in the sun without having to carry your own equipment. We usually opt for this comfort to enjoy it to the fullest.
