How to Get to Praia da Oura

Getting to Praia da Oura is relatively straightforward, given its popularity and excellent location in Albufeira, one of the most important cities in the Algarve. If you're coming from outside Portugal, you'll most likely land at Faro Airport (FAO), which is about 35-40 kilometers away. From there, you have several transport options:

From Faro Airport

• Car rental: This is our preferred option for exploring the Algarve at your own pace. The journey to Albufeira takes approximately 30-40 minutes via the A22 motorway or the N125. Once in Albufeira, follow the signs to 'Oura' or 'Areias de São João'.
• Private transfer or taxi: Comfortable and direct, though more expensive. You can book in advance or find taxis at the airport exit.
• Bus: There are connections from the airport to the Faro bus station, and from there, another bus to Albufeira. It's the most economical option, but also the longest and involves transfers.

From Albufeira and Surroundings

• Car: There are several paid parking lots near the beach, especially close to the famous promenade known as 'The Strip'. In high season, they can fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early.
• Urban bus: Albufeira has a network of urban buses (Giro) that connect the main tourist areas, including Praia da Oura. Check local routes and schedules.
• On foot: If you're staying in the Areias de São João area or near 'The Strip', you can comfortably walk to the beach. It's a pleasant stroll that lets you soak up the atmosphere.
• Tourist train: During the high season, a tourist train runs through Albufeira's main attractions, including stops near Praia da Oura.
