How to Get to Praia da Arrifana

Getting to Praia da Arrifana is part of the adventure and, honestly, the best way to do it is by car, as public transport in this more remote area of the Algarve is limited. If we are coming from Faro Airport, the most direct route will take us along the A22 motorway to the west, then turning north onto secondary roads that will lead us to the picturesque town of Aljezur and, finally, to Arrifana.

Once we approach the beach, we will find a parking lot at the top of the cliff, from where the panoramic views are simply spectacular. It should be considered that the descent to the sand is done on foot via a fairly steep paved path, which adds a touch of exclusivity and helps keep the beach less crowded than others in the Algarve. For those traveling with a lot of equipment or with mobility difficulties, this is a factor to consider, although the reward upon reaching the bottom is well worth the effort.

• Summer (June-August): This is the high season. The sun shines brightly, the water is warmer, and the beach is livelier. It is ideal for families and for those seeking a more social atmosphere. However, it is also when the beach is most crowded, especially in August. Surfing remains popular, although the waves may be less consistent than in other seasons.
