This is undoubtedly the most comfortable way to get there. From Aveiro, the journey takes approximately 20-25 minutes. Take the A17 or N109 heading south and then follow the signs to Vagueira. The road is well signposted and the scenery along the way, often bordering the lagoon, is quite pleasant. At the beach, you'll find several parking areas, both free and paid, especially near the main access points and the beach bars. We recommend arriving early in summer to secure a good spot.

By Public Transport

Although a car is ideal, it is also possible to get there by public transport. From the city of Aveiro, there are buses connecting to Vagueira. Frequencies vary depending on the time of year, being more abundant in summer. It's an economical and sustainable option, although it may take a bit longer. Checking the schedules of the Transdev company or local Aveiro lines is key for efficient planning.

By Bicycle

For the more adventurous and cycling enthusiasts, there is a pleasant network of cycle paths connecting Vagueira with other coastal towns and the city of Aveiro itself, skirting the Ria de Aveiro. It's a fantastic way to enjoy the landscape and sea breeze while heading to the beach.

The water, as is characteristic of the Portuguese Atlantic, tends to be cool, even in the height of summer. This is not a hindrance, but rather an incentive for some. Its energizing properties are perfect for a revitalizing swim after sunbathing or playing sports. The waves at Vagueira are a chapter of their own. They are famous for being consistent and of good size, making it a paradise for surfing, bodyboarding, and other water sports. Children enjoy jumping the smaller waves at the shore, while experienced surfers seek the breaks further out.
