We're talking about Playa Bucerías, a destination that, despite its growing popularity, has managed to preserve that authentic charm of a Mexican fishing village, blending it with a first-class tourist offering. When we think of Nayarit beaches or Mexico beaches that truly leave a mark, Playa Bucerías stands out as an unparalleled gem.

From the moment we set foot on its golden sand, we knew this place had something special. It's a beach that invites both deep relaxation and gentle adventure, where the sound of the waves becomes the perfect soundtrack for every moment. How to Get to Playa Bucerías

Getting to Playa Bucerías is surprisingly easy, especially if we fly into the Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR), which is the closest and conveniently located about 20-30 minutes by car. From there, we have several options to begin our journey to this idyllic destination.

From Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR)

• Taxi or Private Transportation Service: Upon exiting the airport, you'll find an abundance of taxis and private transportation services. It's the most comfortable and fastest option, though also the most expensive. We recommend agreeing on the price before getting in or verifying that the taxi meter is running. The route is direct via Federal Highway 200 North.
• Uber/Didi/Cabify: Ride-sharing platforms also operate in the area. They are often a more economical option than traditional taxis, but sometimes may have restrictions on picking up passengers directly at the airport terminal, requiring a short walk outside the airport facilities.
• Public Bus: For budget-conscious travelers or those seeking a more local experience, public buses are an excellent alternative. You'll need to cross the pedestrian bridge outside the airport (to the left when exiting the terminal) and take a bus with the sign for 'Bucerías', 'Sayulita', or 'Punta de Mita'. They are very economical and the trip, although longer, is part of the adventure. These buses will drop you off directly on the main highway in Bucerías, from where you can walk or take a local taxi to your accommodation.

By Car from Other Cities

If you're coming by car from Guadalajara or Tepic, Federal Highway 200 is the main road that will connect you directly to Playa Bucerías. The highway is well-signposted and offers stunning landscapes as you approach the coast. We recommend using navigation apps to facilitate the journey.

The Sand and the Water

The Playa Bucerías experience undoubtedly begins with its most characteristic elements: the sand and the water. We were captivated by the beauty and quality of its natural surroundings.

The Sand

The sand of Playa Bucerías is a soft golden, almost honey color, that shines under the tropical sun. Its texture is predominantly fine, making it incredibly pleasant for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the kids, or simply relaxing on a towel. It's not the kind of sand that sticks annoyingly, allowing for easy cleanup after a day at the beach. Along its 3.5 kilometers, the sand remains consistent, offering ample space for all visitors without feeling crowded, even in high season. It's the kind of ground that invites long sunset walks, leaving ephemeral footprints that the sea takes care of erasing.

The Water

The Pacific waters at Playa Bucerías are one of its greatest attractions. They are generally calm, with a crystal-clear greenish-blue hue that invites you to dive in. The water temperature is warm for most of the year, making it perfect for a refreshing swim without a thermal shock. The shallow depth near the shore makes it an ideal place for children to play and swim safely under adult supervision. We rarely found strong currents, reinforcing its reputation as a safe beach for family enjoyment. The clarity of the water, especially on sunny days, allows you to see the sandy bottom and, occasionally, small fish swimming near the shore, adding a magical touch to the experience.

Services and Facilities

Playa Bucerías is a destination that prides itself on offering excellent tourist infrastructure, ensuring our stay is as comfortable and pleasant as possible. From the moment we arrived, we noticed there is a wide variety of services and facilities designed for everyone's enjoyment.

• Showers: Although not omnipresent, many of the restaurants and beach clubs along the coast offer showers for their customers, allowing us to rinse off the salt and sand before continuing with the day. There are also some basic public showers at key points.
• Parking: In the town of Bucerías, you'll find various parking options. There are street parking zones, though they can fill up quickly in high season, and also several private paid parking lots that offer greater security and convenience, especially near the main beach entrances.
