How to Get to Playa Barra de Potosí

Getting to Playa Barra de Potosí is relatively straightforward, especially if you're already in the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo area. We always recommend renting a car if you want to explore at your own pace, but there are also public transportation and taxi options that make the journey comfortably.

From Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo

• By car: This is the most flexible option. From Zihuatanejo, the journey takes approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. You should take the coastal highway heading south, passing the airport. The signage to Barra de Potosí is clear. The road is in good condition and the trip is quite picturesque, following the coastline and passing through small communities. Upon arriving in the village, there is informal parking near the restaurants and the beach.
• Taxi: From any point in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo, you can take a taxi. The cost may vary, so we always suggest agreeing on the fare before starting the trip. It's a comfortable option if you don't want to worry about driving or parking.
• Colectivo/Combi: For a more local and economical experience, you can opt for the 'combis' or colectivos that depart from downtown Zihuatanejo. These vehicles have fixed routes and are an excellent way to observe the daily life of the region. Look for those heading to Barra de Potosí. You might have to transfer or walk a bit upon arrival, but it's an authentic way to travel.
