How to Get to Playa de Achakkar

Accessing Playa de Achakkar is relatively easy, especially from Tangier, making it a very accessible option for a day trip or a longer stay. We always consider the comfort of the journey as a fundamental part of the travel experience, and in this case, Achakkar more than delivers.

By Private or Rental Car

The most comfortable and flexible way to get there is undoubtedly by car. From the center of Tangier, the journey usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on traffic. We must take the coastal road heading west, towards Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules. The route is well signposted and offers us panoramic views of the Atlantic, which is an attraction in itself. Furthermore, the beach has nearby parking areas, although they can fill up quickly in high season, so it is advisable to arrive early.

By Taxi

Another very popular and practical option is to take a 'petit taxi' (for trips within the city and its immediate surroundings) or a 'grand taxi' (for longer distances or if we are a group) from Tangier. 'Grand taxis' usually have fixed rates for destinations like Achakkar or the Caves of Hercules. It is always advisable to agree on the price with the driver before starting the trip to avoid surprises. This method is ideal if we don't want to worry about parking or if we prefer to relax and enjoy the scenery without driving.

By Public Transport

Although less direct, it is also possible to reach the Achakkar area using some urban bus line heading towards the western outskirts of Tangier. However, the nearest stop will likely leave us some distance from the beach, requiring a walk or an additional taxi for the final stretch. For us, if we are looking for maximum comfort, the car or taxi are the best alternatives to fully enjoy Playa de Achakkar.

This is partly due to its location, which protects it from stronger currents. The color of the water ranges from turquoise blue to emerald green, inviting us to dive in and cool off. The temperature, although Atlantic, is pleasant during the warm season, making bathing a pleasant experience. For us, the combination of clean waters and the supervision of lifeguards (in season) provides great peace of mind, especially when traveling with young children. It is, without a doubt, a place where we can enjoy a safe and revitalizing swim, one of the great attractions of the beaches of Morocco.
