How to Get to Playa de Porto Vromi

We recommend renting a vehicle in Zante Town or at the airport, as it gives us the freedom to explore the island at our own pace.

From Zante Town, we will take the road west, following signs towards the villages of Anafonitria or Volimes. Once we approach this area, we will find signs guiding us to Porto Vromi. It's important to consider that the last few kilometers before reaching the beach are on a winding and narrow road, with some sharp curves and slopes. We will drive cautiously, enjoying the spectacular rural and coastal landscapes unfolding before us. Upon arrival, we will find a designated parking area, although it can fill up quickly in high season. From the parking lot, a path or some stairs will lead us directly to the small cove and the pier. Another option, if we prefer not to drive, is to book a boat excursion from other points on the island, although these are usually part of larger tours that make a brief stop.

The Sand and Water

Right next to the pier, there is usually a small, very rudimentary chiringuito or kiosk. Here we can buy refreshing drinks, perhaps a simple snack or an ice cream, which is a relief after the journey and under the Greek sun. However, let's not expect a full restaurant or a wide variety of meals. The main additional 'service', and one of Porto Vromi's attractions, is the possibility of equipment rental. Here we can find small boats, kayaks, or motorboats that we can rent by the hour to explore the nearby coves, the Blue Caves, or even head to Navagio on our own (if the weather permits and we have experience). There are no showers, extensive public toilets, or lifeguards, so caution and self-sufficiency are key. We always recommend bringing our own water, sunscreen, and everything needed to spend the day comfortably.
