How to Get to Playa de Pachis

Getting to Playa de Pachis is relatively straightforward, and the journey is part of the adventure. The island of Thassos is mainly accessible by ferry from mainland Greece. The two most popular routes are:

From Keramoti to Limenas (Thassos Town)

This is the most frequent and fastest route, with ferries operating every hour or even more regularly during the high season. The journey takes approximately 35-40 minutes. Keramoti is located near Kavala Airport (Megas Alexandros, KVA), making it very convenient if you're flying into this region.

From Kavala to Skala Prinos or Limenas

This route is a bit longer, around 1 hour and 15 minutes, and the ferries are less frequent. However, Kavala is a city with an international airport and a bus station connecting to the rest of Greece, so it can be a viable option if you're arriving by land or from a more distant destination.

Once on the island, Playa de Pachis is located on the northwest coast, about 8 kilometers west of Limenas (the island's capital) and about 4 kilometers east of Skala Rachoni. We recommend renting a car to explore Thassos with complete freedom, as it will allow you to discover not only Pachis but also other wonderful Greece beaches and picturesque villages. There is parking available right next to the beach, which is a great advantage. You can also opt for a taxi from Limenas or Skala Prinos, or use the local bus service, although frequencies may be limited outside the high season. The road leading to Pachis is well-signposted and easy to travel, offering panoramic views of the Aegean Sea that will prepare you for the beauty that awaits.

The Sand and Water

If there's something we love about Playa de Pachis, it's certainly its sand and waters. The sand here is a pale golden color, incredibly fine and soft to the touch, making it perfect for walking barefoot or for little ones to build sandcastles without difficulty. You won't find rocks at the entrance to the sea or on the seabed, ensuring a comfortable and safe swimming experience. It's a pleasure to sink your feet into this natural carpet of sand as you head towards the sea.
