How to Get to Playa de Kalamitsa

The main gateway to the island is via ferry from Kymi, a port on the island of Euboea (Evia). We usually recommend traveling by car to Kymi, because once on Skyros, having your own vehicle will give you the freedom to explore every corner, including the fascinating Playa de Kalamitsa.

Ferry Journey from Kymi

The ferry journey from Kymi to the port of Linaria on Skyros takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. It's a pleasant trip, with views of the Aegean Sea that already prepare us for the island atmosphere. It's crucial to book tickets in advance, especially if you're traveling during the high season (July and August), as vehicle capacity is limited.

From Linaria Port to Kalamitsa

Once we disembark in Linaria, Playa de Kalamitsa is located a relatively short distance away, south of the capital, Skyros Town (Chora). From Linaria, you can take a taxi, use the local bus (although frequencies may be limited and they don't always go directly to the beach) or, as we've already suggested, use your own rental car. The drive from Linaria or Chora to the beach shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes, making it a very accessible option for a day trip or as your main accommodation destination.
