How to Get to Playa de Achladies

Getting to Playa de Achladies is surprisingly simple, which adds an extra point to its appeal. Located just 5-6 kilometers southwest of the capital, Skiathos Town, this beach is very accessible from any point on the island. We have tried several options and all are viable, depending on your preferences and budget.

By Local Bus

The most common and economical way to get there is by using Skiathos's efficient local bus system. The main line runs along the island's south coast, connecting Skiathos Town with Koukounaries, and Achladies is one of its key stops. You should look for stop number 10, which is right next to the beach or a very short walk away. Buses are frequent, especially during the high season (May to September), and offer a comfortable way to enjoy the scenery without worrying about parking. It's an option we highly recommend for its ease and for allowing you to immerse yourself in the local atmosphere from the very beginning.

By Rental Car or Motorbike

If you prefer the freedom to move at your own pace, renting a car or motorbike is an excellent alternative. In Skiathos Town and at various points on the island, you will find numerous rental agencies. The journey to Achladies is short and well signposted. There are free or paid parking areas near the beach, which facilitates access. However, in the middle of August, parking can be a bit more challenging, so we advise arriving early to secure a good spot. The road is paved and in good condition, making the trip very pleasant.

By Taxi or Water Taxi

For those seeking greater comfort or traveling in a group, a taxi is a quick and direct option. You can easily find taxis in Skiathos Town, especially at the port. Another very popular alternative, which we really enjoyed, is the water taxi. From the port of Skiathos Town, several boats offer regular trips to the most popular beaches on the south coast, including Achladies. It's a charming experience that allows you to enjoy the coastal views from the sea and drops you off right on the sand. It's a bit more expensive than the bus, but the experience is worth it, especially if you want to avoid land traffic and arrive in style.

There are no annoying rocks on the shore, which makes entering the sea easy and safe for all swimmers. The feeling under our feet is pure silk, inviting us to spend hours relaxed on its surface.

The Water: A Crystal Mirror

But if the sand is impressive, the water is simply spectacular. The waters of Achladies are famous for their transparency and calmness. They are incredibly crystal clear, allowing us to see the seabed with astonishing clarity, even several meters deep. The color ranges from a soft turquoise at the shore to a deeper blue as we go further out, creating a gradient of tones that is a pleasure for the eyes. Achladies Bay is well protected, which means the sea is usually very calm, almost like a natural pool. This characteristic makes it perfect for swimming, for children to play safely, and for snorkeling, as underwater visibility is excellent and you can observe small fish and marine life without difficulty. The water temperature, especially in the summer months, is very pleasant and refreshing, ideal for combating the Greek heat. It's a true pleasure to immerse yourself in these waters and feel the purity of the Aegean.
