How to Get to Playa de Fanari

Getting to Playa de Fanari is relatively straightforward. We always recommend traveling by car for the flexibility it offers to explore Rhodope (Thrace). From Komotini, the capital of the prefecture, the journey takes about 30-40 minutes (25-30 km). From Alexandroupoli, the trip is a bit longer, around 45-60 minutes (60-70 km).

Transport Options

• Private or rental car: The most comfortable and practical option. Parking is available, although it can fill up during peak season.
• Bus: Regular services connect Komotini with Fanari in the summer. We advise checking schedules in advance.
• Taxi: From Komotini, it's a quick and comfortable option, especially for groups. The ease of access is a plus for this Rhodope (Thrace) beach.

Shoulder Seasons: Peace (May, September - early October)

For a quieter experience, the shoulder seasons are perfect. The weather is still pleasant and the sea warm, especially in September. The influx of tourists decreases, offering more space and a serene atmosphere. Many services remain open. It's ideal for a true rest and for exploring Rhodope (Thrace) at a leisurely pace. Our recommendation for visiting Playa de Fanari is September.
