How to Get to Playa de Klisidi

Getting to Playa de Klisidi is easy by car, our recommended means of transport for Crete. From the center of Rethymno, the beach is about a 10-15 minute drive to the east. We advise using GPS for the exact coordinates (approximately 35.3411° N, 24.5244° E), as it lacks prominent signage.

Parking is informal, with spaces on the roadside. It's best to arrive early. The cove is accessible on foot from the parking area, offering a hassle-free arrival to this small paradise among the beaches of Greece.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Klisidi captivates us with its sand and the purity of its waters. The sand is of a mixed type, a blend of fine golden sand and small pebbles, giving it a rustic charm. The seabed is predominantly sandy, facilitating access to the sea, although we suggest water shoes for rocky areas.

The waters of Klisidi are of astonishing clarity, with hues ranging from turquoise to deep blue. The entrance to the sea is gentle and gradual, ideal for a relaxing swim. The excellent visibility invites snorkeling, one of our favorite activities at this Rethymno (Crete) beach. The water temperature is warm in summer, offering a refreshing relief.

Services and Facilities

Playa de Klisidi is characterized by its semi-wild and largely undeveloped nature. You won't find beach bars, restaurants, or umbrella and sunbed rentals. This simplicity gives it its 'secret hideaway' charm. The only 'directly accessible' service is the informal Parking. Given the absence of other services, we advise visitors to come prepared with:

• Snacks or a picnic.
• Umbrella and towels.
• Sunscreen and protection.
• Bags for trash.

Best Time to Visit

To fully enjoy the tranquility of Playa de Klisidi, we recommend the months of late spring and early autumn, based on our experience with the beaches of Rethymno (Crete) and Greece.

Late Spring (May - Early June)

Pleasant temperatures, lower tourist influx, nature in bloom, and sea perfect for swimming.

Early Autumn (September - October)

Very pleasant temperatures, sunny days, and mild nights. Fewer tourists and the sea at its warmest point.

We advise avoiding August due to the general higher influx in Crete. May, June, September, and early October are the ideal months to visit Playa de Klisidi beach.

Playa de Klisidi is not for motorized water sports. Its charm lies in simplicity and connection with nature. The main activities revolve around enjoying the sea and sun.

The exceptional water clarity allows for excellent snorkeling. Marine life can be discovered around the rocky edges. We always bring our masks and snorkels.

Klisidi is an exceptionally photogenic setting. The contrasts of sand, turquoise waters, and vegetation offer wonderful opportunities. The sunsets are spectacular. At Klisidi, we seek tranquility and the simple activities that nature offers.

For Families with Children

Playa de Klisidi can be a good option for families with children, especially due to the tranquility of its waters. The waves are minimal and the entrance to the sea is gentle and gradual, very safe for little ones. However, being a beach without organized services, parents must come fully prepared. There are no lifeguards, showers, or beach bars. We advise bringing everything needed: water, snacks, umbrella, sunscreen, towels, toys, and a first-aid kit. Constant supervision is crucial. Water shoes can be useful for the mixed sand. For older children, snorkeling can be fascinating. Playa de Klisidi beach is fantastic for families looking for a quiet, natural day, with proper preparation.
