How to Get to Playa de Psili Ammos

The most popular and, for many, the most pleasant way is via a water taxi or a small boat that departs regularly from the port of Skala, the beating heart of Patmos. During the high season months, these boats usually have fixed schedules in the morning and afternoon for the return trip. The boat ride is a delight in itself, offering us spectacular views of the Patmos coastline and the chance to feel the sea breeze as we approach our destination. It is a comfortable and picturesque option, ideal for families or for those who prefer to avoid long walks under the sun.

The second option, and a favorite for hiking and adventure lovers, is a hike from Diakofti. For this, we must first get to Diakofti by car or motorbike, which is about a 10-15 minute drive from Skala. From Diakofti, a well-marked but somewhat demanding trail begins, winding through slightly rugged terrain for approximately 20-30 minutes. This route rewards us with impressive panoramic views as we descend towards the beach. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and enough water if we choose this alternative, especially during the warmer months. The feeling of arriving at the beach after the hike is particularly rewarding, as if we had earned the right to enjoy its pristine beauty.
