We venture into the heart of the Aegean Sea to discover one of its best-kept secrets: Playa de Molos on the enchanting island of Paros, Greece. This is not just any beach; it is a haven of serenity and natural beauty that captivated us from the very first moment. How to Get to Playa de Molos

Getting to Playa de Molos is part of the adventure and, fortunately, quite straightforward. The island of Paros has a domestic airport and is very well connected by ferry from the port of Piraeus in Athens, as well as from other Cycladic islands. Once we arrive at the main port of Parikia, we have several options to head to Molos, which is located on the east coast of the island, near the charming village of Marpissa.

From Parikia or Naoussa

• Rental car: Without a doubt, the option we most recommend. Renting a car gives us the freedom to explore Paros at our own pace and reach Molos without complications. The journey from Parikia takes approximately 20-25 minutes, while from the picturesque Naoussa, the trip is similar. The road is well signposted and takes us through typically Cycladic landscapes, with its white houses and windmills.
• Scooter or quad: For the more adventurous, a scooter or a quad can be an excellent way to get around the island. It's a fun and agile way to reach Playa de Molos, although always with caution, especially on rural roads.
• Local bus: There is a public bus service on Paros that connects the main towns. We can take a bus from Parikia or Naoussa to Marpissa or Piso Livadi. From there, we will likely have to walk a stretch (about 15-20 minutes) to the beach, or consider a taxi for the last leg. It's a more economical option, but requires a bit more planning with schedules and the walk.

The Sand and the Water

The Playa de Molos experience begins and ends with its sand and waters, which are, certainly, its greatest attractions. It is here that nature shows us its kindest and most welcoming side, inviting us to immerse ourselves in a paradise of sensations.

A Carpet of Fine Golden Sand

When stepping onto Playa de Molos, the first thing we notice is the softness of its sand. It is fine, golden sand, almost like talcum powder under our feet, stretching for a considerable distance. This characteristic makes it the perfect place for long barefoot walks along the water's edge, for children to build sandcastles with ease, or simply to lie back and feel the warmth of the sun on us. Unlike other Paros beaches that may have pebbles or rocks, the ground at Molos is predominantly sand, which guarantees exceptional comfort both in and out of the water. The cleanliness of the sand is also noteworthy, contributing to the feeling of a well-maintained and pristine environment.

Crystal Clear and Calm Waters

But if the sand is a delight, the water at Molos is simply hypnotic. We are met with a sea of crystal-clear, translucent turquoise waters that irresistibly invite us for a swim. One of the most appreciated features of this beach, especially by families, is its entry into the sea, which is very shallow and gradual. We can walk quite a few meters out to sea and the water will barely cover our waist, making it incredibly safe for young children and for those who don't feel entirely comfortable in deep water.

Furthermore, Molos Bay is naturally protected from the prevailing Meltemi winds, which can stir up other Paros beaches. This means its waters are usually exceptionally calm, almost like a natural swimming pool, perfect for swimming, floating, and relaxing without worrying about strong waves. The water temperature, especially during the summer months, is pleasantly warm, allowing us to enjoy long swims without feeling cold. Occasionally, we may find some seaweed washed up by the current, something natural in any marine ecosystem, but in general, the clarity and purity of the water are outstanding, contributing to Playa de Molos proudly flying the Blue Flag, a seal of quality certifying its environmental and service excellence.
