Its waters, of an incredibly clear turquoise blue, invite a refreshing dip, while the small island of Panagia, with its picturesque church, adds a touch of magic to the horizon. We've spent hours here, watching the comings and goings of the boats, enjoying the sun, and feeling the sea breeze. Krioneri is, without a doubt, one of those beaches that stays etched in your memory, a corner of Greece where tradition and beauty merge to create an unforgettable experience. How to Get to Krioneri Beach

Getting to Krioneri Beach is part of its charm, as it is practically integrated into the life of the town of Parga. If you're staying in the center, you can most likely walk there in a matter of minutes. We, for example, used to take a pleasant stroll from our hotel, walking down the picturesque cobbled streets of Parga, which was an experience in itself.

For those coming from outside Parga or who prefer not to walk, there are parking options nearby. Although there is no massive parking lot directly on the sand, you'll find designated areas around the town. It's important to consider that during the high season, parking can be a challenge, so we recommend arriving early or considering local public transport if you're staying a bit further away. In short, Krioneri's accessibility is one of its great advantages, making it attractive to all visitors.

The Sand and Water

Krioneri Beach offers us a very particular and pleasant surface. Don't expect fine, white sand like on some Caribbean beaches; here we find a charming mix. Its sand type is mixed, composed of small pebbles and coarser sand that gives it a very natural feel and prevents it from sticking excessively to the body. This composition also contributes to the incredible clarity of its waters, as sediment isn't stirred up as easily by movement.

As for the water, it's simply spectacular. The crystal-clear waters of Krioneri are one of its main attractions. With shades ranging from turquoise to emerald blue, they invite you to dive in from the first moment. The entrance to the sea is gentle and gradual, making it ideal for families with children and for those who enjoy a calm swim. We've noticed that the water is usually at a very pleasant temperature during the summer months, perfect for cooling off from the Greek sun. Furthermore, the absence of large waves, protected by the geography of the bay and Panagia island, guarantees a safe and pleasurable swim.

Services and Facilities

One of the great advantages of Krioneri Beach is the wide range of services and facilities it offers, worthy of a Blue Flag beach. We felt very comfortable knowing we had everything we needed within reach. To start, the beach has numerous areas where you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, which is ideal for relaxing and enjoying the sun without worries. The prices are reasonable and the service is usually attentive.

Right behind the beach, along the promenade, you'll find a great variety of chiringuitos and restaurants. We've enjoyed delicious coffees in the morning, refreshing drinks at noon, and memorable dinners with sea views at sunset. There are also showers available to rinse off the salt after a swim and bathrooms/WCs in public facilities or nearby establishments. The presence of lifeguards during the high season gave us additional peace of mind, knowing that safety is guaranteed. Although the beach doesn't have full accessibility for people with reduced mobility in all its areas, its proximity to the town facilitates access to some points to a certain extent.

Best Time to Visit

Choosing the best time to visit Krioneri Beach and Parga in general depends a lot on what you're looking for in your vacation. We've had the opportunity to visit at different times and each one has its particular charm.

If you prefer to avoid the crowds and enjoy a more tranquil atmosphere, our recommendation is to go during late spring (May-June) or early autumn (September-October). In these months, the weather is exquisite, with pleasant temperatures for swimming and sunbathing, but without the stifling heat of midsummer. Furthermore, accommodation and flight prices are usually more economical, and you'll have the beach almost to yourselves in the early morning or at sunset. The waters are still warm and the surrounding vegetation is in full splendor.

If, on the contrary, you love the bustle, nightlife, and a vibrant atmosphere, then summer (July-August) is your time. Krioneri fills with life, the chiringuitos are in full swing, and there's a contagious energy in the air. That said, be prepared to share the beach with many other visitors and for higher temperatures. We enjoyed the energy of summer, but we appreciated the serenity of the intermediate months. In any case, Krioneri always has something special to offer.
