How to Get to Playa de Abram

Getting to Playa de Abram is part of the adventure and charm of this destination. We always recommend renting a car or a scooter to explore Naxos at our own pace, and for Abram, this is the most practical option. From Chora, the capital of Naxos, the journey is approximately 15 to 20 kilometers and will take us about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic and our skill on Greek roads. The route, although mostly paved, has some winding and narrow sections, especially as we approach the northwest coast.

We greatly enjoy the drive, as it allows us to appreciate the island's interior, with its mountainous landscapes and small traditional villages. It is an opportunity to see a different facet of Naxos, beyond its famous Greece beaches. There is signage, although sometimes it can be a bit scarce, so we always advise carrying a GPS or having a map downloaded on your phone. Upon arrival, you will find space to park your vehicle, usually informal and near the tavernas that sit on the beach or in its vicinity. This access, while not the simplest, helps maintain Abram's calm and less crowded atmosphere, which, for us, is an undeniable advantage. The reward at the end of the road is a pristine beach and a feeling of having discovered a hidden treasure. It is important to consider that public transport to this area is very limited or non-existent, so the autonomy of your own vehicle is key to fully enjoying this experience.

The Sand and Water

When we talk about Playa de Abram, the quality of its sand and the purity of its waters are two of the aspects that impress us the most. The visibility is excellent, making it an ideal place for snorkeling and exploring marine life without the need for extensive equipment. We love diving in and observing the small fish swimming among the rocks and seaweed. Furthermore, the waters are usually calm and shallow near the shore, making it very safe for swimming and for children to play without risks. The water temperature, especially during the summer months, is very pleasant, inviting long swims and full enjoyment of the sea's coolness. The combination of this mixed sand with such pristine waters creates a truly idyllic setting, inviting us to relax and forget everything, immersing ourselves in the essence of Naxos beaches.
