How to Get to Playa de Eftalou

Getting to Playa de Eftalou is relatively straightforward, although the most comfortable way is usually by car, which gives us the freedom to explore the surroundings at our own pace. If we land at Mytilene International Airport (MJT), the capital of Lesbos, we will have a journey of approximately 60-70 kilometers to Eftalou. We can choose to rent a car directly at the airport, which is highly recommended for getting around the island.

From Mytilene, the route will take us to the north of the island, passing through inland and coastal landscapes of great beauty. The journey takes about an hour and a half, depending on traffic and any stops we decide to make to admire the views. The road is well signposted, and once we approach Molyvos, we will find clear signs to Eftalou, located a few kilometers east of the village.

If we prefer not to drive, there are other options. From Mytilene, there are bus services (KTEL Lesvos) connecting the capital with Molyvos. Once in Molyvos, we can take a local taxi to Eftalou, or even, if we enjoy walking and are staying nearby, a pleasant 30-40 minute walk along the coast will lead us directly to the Playa de Eftalou beach. During the high season, some accommodations in Molyvos and Petra may offer transfers or have a mini-bus service to nearby beaches, including Eftalou. Whatever our choice, the path to this paradise of tranquility is already part of the experience.
