How to Get to Playa de Agiokampos

Getting to Playa de Agiokampos is relatively straightforward, making it an accessible destination for many travelers. We always recommend planning the trip in advance to ensure a hassle-free experience, especially during the peak summer season when visitor numbers are highest.

By Car

This is, without a doubt, the most comfortable and flexible option to reach Agiokampos. The beach is located approximately 45-50 kilometers east of the city of Larisa, the capital of the prefecture. The journey from Larisa is picturesque and usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic and speed. The road is in good condition and well-signposted. If you're coming from Athens, the drive is about 3.5 to 4 hours via the E75 highway, while from Thessaloniki, the distance is about 2.5 to 3 hours. Having a car will allow you to explore not only the beach but also the charming surrounding villages and other beaches of Larisa (Thessaly), such as Velika or Sotiritsa. There are ample parking areas available along the beach, many of them free, although some tavernas and chiringuitos offer private parking for their customers.

By Bus

For those who prefer public transport, there are regular bus services (KTEL Larisa) connecting the city of Larisa with Playa de Agiokampos and other coastal towns in the area. Buses are an economical option, although schedules may be less flexible and frequency decreases outside the peak season. It's advisable to check the updated timetables at the Larisa bus station or on the KTEL website before your trip. The bus journey usually takes a little longer than by car, around an hour or an hour and a quarter.

By Plane

The nearest airports to the Larisa region are Thessaloniki 'Macedonia' International Airport (SKG) and, to a lesser extent, Nea Anchialos Airport (VOL) near Volos. From Thessaloniki, you can rent a car directly at the airport or take a bus to the central station in Thessaloniki and then another bus to Larisa. From Larisa, as mentioned, you can connect to Agiokampos by car or bus. Nea Anchialos Airport, although smaller, can be an option if you find direct flights, and from there you will also need a rental car or a taxi to get to Larisa and then to the beach.

In some sections, finer, golden sand predominates, ideal for lying down and building sandcastles, while in others, especially near the shore and at the water's edge, we find pebbles polished by the waves. This combination not only gives it a unique and natural appearance but also has its advantages: mixed sand sticks less to the skin and towels, and the pebbles help keep the water incredibly clear. The main 'ground type' is still sand, but the presence of these small stones is a distinctive feature that gives it a rustic and authentic appeal. We recommend bringing sandals or water shoes, especially if you have sensitive feet, for greater comfort when walking along the shore or entering and exiting the water.
