How to Get to Playa de Faros

Getting to Playa de Faros and, indeed, to the entire island of Kastellorizo, is part of the adventure and contributes to its aura of exclusivity. Do not expect direct flights or large infrastructure. The journey itself is a transition towards serenity.

Flights and Ferries

For us, the most common route to reach Kastellorizo involves first flying to Rhodes International Airport (RHO), one of the largest islands in the Dodecanese. From Rhodes, the only way to get to Kastellorizo is by ferry or catamaran. There are several options, with different durations and frequencies:

• Conventional ferry: These usually take between 2.5 and 4 hours, depending on intermediate stops. They are a more economical option and allow you to enjoy the Aegean landscape. Companies like Blue Star Ferries operate this route.
• Fast catamaran: These services are faster, reducing travel time to approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. They are ideal if you are short on time or prefer a quicker crossing. Dodekanisos Seaways is one of the main operators.

Once you arrive at the port of Kastellorizo, Playa de Faros is a short distance away. The island is very small, and the main town, Megisti (also known as Kastellorizo), is the epicenter of all activity.
