How to Get to Playa de Kalamos

Getting to Playa de Kalamos is part of the adventure, and although it may require a bit of planning, we assure you the effort is worth it. The most practical and recommended way to get there is by car. Evia is connected to the Greek mainland by a bridge in Chalkida, which facilitates access from Athens. From the capital, the journey to Chalkida takes about an hour. Once in Chalkida, the road to the east coast of Evia is quite scenic, winding through picturesque villages and rural landscapes.

Driving Route

From Chalkida, you will need to head east, following signs to Kymi. The trip to the Kalamos area can take between 1.5 and 2 hours, depending on traffic and speed. The road, although generally in good condition, has sections with curves and descents, so it is important to drive carefully. As you approach the beach, you will see signs guiding you. The last stretch of road down to the beach can be a bit steeper and narrower, but it is paved and accessible for most vehicles. We advise you to take it easy and enjoy the spectacular views that open up along the way.

Parking

One of the advantages of Playa de Kalamos is that it has a designated parking area, which will make your life easier upon arrival. Although it is not a huge parking lot, there is usually enough space, especially if you arrive early in the morning or outside the peak season. It is free and conveniently located near the main entrance to the beach, allowing you to unload your belongings without major complications. Always remember to respect parking regulations and not block the passage of other vehicles.
