How to Get to Playa de Trapezaki

Getting to Playa de Trapezaki is an exciting part of the adventure in Cefalonia. Located on the south coast of the island, about 15 kilometers south of the capital, Argostoli, access is relatively straightforward, although we highly recommend renting a car to explore the island with complete freedom. From Cefalonia International Airport (EFL), the journey is just 10-15 minutes by car, following signs towards Lourdata or Vlachata. The road is scenic, winding through olive and cypress trees, which already immerses us in the local beauty.

If we start from Argostoli, we take the coastal road heading south. The signs for Trapezaki or Lourdata are clear. Once we approach the area, we'll find several signs that will guide us directly to the beach. There is a free and quite spacious parking area right behind the beach, which greatly facilitates the visit. Although public transport in Cefalonia is limited, there are some bus routes connecting Argostoli with nearby villages, but to get directly to the beach, a taxi or a rental vehicle are the most practical and recommended options. The flexibility of having our own transport allows us to discover not only the Playa de Trapezaki, but also other hidden treasures of Cefalonia at our own pace.

The Sand and Water

The Playa de Trapezaki is a true delight for the senses, and its sand and water are two of its most outstanding features. We are faced with a beach of fine, golden sand, incredibly soft to the touch, making it perfect for walking barefoot or simply lying in the sun. It's clean, well-maintained sand that invites building sandcastles with the kids or just relaxing with a good book.

We have observed that the beach is well-equipped to meet the needs of its visitors, without losing its original charm.

• Sunbeds and umbrellas: There are areas where you can rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds, perfect for sun protection and enjoying a restorative nap by the sea.
• Chiringuitos and restaurants: Right on the beach or a few steps away, there are charming chiringuitos and tavernas offering refreshing drinks, snacks, and delicious local meals. It's the ideal place to savor a Greek coffee or a plate of fresh seafood with sea views.
• Parking: As already mentioned, there is a spacious, free, and easily accessible parking lot, which is a great advantage on an island where a car is almost essential.
• Showers: After a refreshing swim, we can rinse off the salt in the available showers, which is always appreciated.
• Lifeguard service: During the high season, the beach usually has lifeguard service, adding an extra layer of safety, especially for families with children.
