How to Get to Playa de Karidi

Getting to Playa de Karidi is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it's quite accessible. The most common and recommended way is by car, as it allows the flexibility to also explore the surroundings of Vourvourou and other beaches of Chalkidiki. If we arrive from Thessaloniki Airport (SKG), the drive takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on traffic and speed. We'll take the road towards the Chalkidiki peninsula and follow the signs to Sithonia and Vourvourou. Once in Vourvourou, Playa de Karidi is well signposted, although the final stretch of road is a bit more rustic.

Directions and Parking

As we approach the beach, we'll notice that parking is mainly informal. There are wooded areas along the road where people park their vehicles. In high season, finding a spot can be a challenge, so we recommend arriving early. Don't expect an organized parking lot with barriers or attendants; it's more of a natural space adapted to the influx of visitors. The walk from the car to the sand is short and easy, making it comfortable even for families with young children or people with reduced mobility (although the beach itself is not fully wheelchair accessible, getting onto the sand is relatively easy).

The Sand and the Water

The sand of Playa de Karidi is, in a word, exquisite. It's a pale white color, incredibly fine and soft to the touch, making it a pleasure to walk on barefoot. It stretches across several small coves, creating a spectacular contrast with the intense blue of the sea. Children love building sandcastles here, and adults enjoy the feeling of its softness underfoot while relaxing in the sun. It's sand that doesn't get excessively hot, even on the hottest summer days, which adds an extra layer of comfort to our experience.

They are incredibly warm and shallow for many meters, making them perfect for children and for those who enjoy a relaxing swim without worries. The calm of its waters, protected by the shape of the bay and the surrounding rocks, is ideal for swimming, floating, and simply letting yourself be carried by the sea breeze. The underwater visibility is excellent, inviting exploration with a mask and snorkel to admire the marine life hiding among the rocks and the sandy seabed.

Despite its popularity, Playa de Karidi maintains a relatively natural and less developed atmosphere than other beaches of Chalkidiki. This means we shouldn't expect the full range of services we would find on a more organized beach. The beauty of Karidi lies precisely in its semi-virgin state, but it's important to go prepared.

Basic Services

• Parking: As mentioned, parking is informal, along the road and in wooded areas near the beach. It's free, but it can fill up quickly in high season.
• Chiringuitos/Food Trucks: During the summer months, it's common to find one or two small chiringuitos or food trucks offering refreshing drinks, ice cream, coffee, and some fast food (sandwiches, crepes). Don't expect a full beach restaurant, but they are enough to satisfy basic needs.
• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: Some of the chiringuitos or mobile vendors may offer sunbed and umbrella rentals, but availability is limited. Many visitors choose to bring their own umbrellas and towels to ensure a comfortable spot and
