How to Get to Playa de Kalogria

Getting to Playa de Kalogria is relatively straightforward, especially if traveling by car, which is the most recommended option for exploring the Chalkidiki region. From Thessaloniki, the nearest major city with an international airport, the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on traffic and the route. We usually take the Egnatia Odos highway (A2) and then turn off towards the Sithonia peninsula. Kalogria is located on the west coast of Sithonia, between the popular villages of Nikiti and Neos Marmaras.

Key Directions:

• From Thessaloniki: Follow the signs towards Chalkidiki (Halkidiki). Once on the peninsula, head towards Sithonia (the 'second finger'). You'll pass through Nikiti and, shortly after, you'll see the signs for Kalogria. It's important to pay attention, as the entrance to the beach can be a bit discreet from the main road.
• By car: This is, without a doubt, the best option. It gives us the freedom to explore other Chalkidiki beaches and the charming nearby villages. There is a large free parking lot right behind the beach, which is a great advantage.
• Public transport: Although there are intercity buses (KTEL Halkidikis) connecting Thessaloniki with the main villages of Sithonia, the frequency and direct stops to Kalogria can be limited. If you choose this route, you will likely need a taxi from Nikiti or Neos Marmaras.

The Sand and Water

The sand is a pale golden color, very fine and soft to the touch, making it perfect for walking barefoot or for children to play and build sandcastles.
