How to Get to Playa de Kondyli

Getting to Playa de Kondyli is relatively straightforward, although the most comfortable and recommended way for us is always by car. Its location in the Argolida region, near the historic city of Nafplio, makes it accessible from several points of interest in the Peloponnese.

From Athens

If we fly into Athens International Airport (ATH), we will have several options to get to Kondyli. The most popular is to rent a car directly at the airport. The road journey takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours, covering a distance of about 160-170 kilometers. The main route will take us along the A8/E94 highway towards Corinth, then take the E65 towards Nafplio. Once near Nafplio, we follow the signs towards Vivari or Drepano, and from there, the signage to Playa de Kondyli is clear. We always advise this option, as it gives us the freedom to explore the surroundings at our own pace.

Another alternative from Athens is to take an intercity bus (KTEL) from the Kifissos station in Athens to Nafplio. The buses are frequent and comfortable, and the journey takes about 2 hours. Once in Nafplio, we will need a taxi or a rental car to get to Playa de Kondyli, which is about 15-20 kilometers away. While it is a valid option, it somewhat limits our mobility once in the area.

From Nafplio

If we are already in Nafplio, Playa de Kondyli is a short and picturesque drive away. It's approximately 15-20 kilometers, which will take us about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic and the exact route. We can take the coastal road that passes through Tolo and Vivari. The views along the way are spectacular, with the Aegean Sea on one side and olive groves on the other. A taxi from Nafplio is also an option, but for longer stays or to explore the region, a rental car is, without a doubt, the best choice for us.

Parking

Playa de Kondyli has parking available, which is a great advantage, especially during the high season months. There are designated areas where we can park our vehicle without major issues, which greatly facilitates access to the beach and its services. This gives us additional peace of mind when planning our visit, knowing we won't have to worry about finding a place to leave the car.

Although it is predominantly sandy, in some areas we can find small gravel or pebbles polished by the sea, which add a natural and rustic touch without compromising comfort.

The waters of Playa de Kondyli are simply spectacular. They are famous for their crystal-clear transparency and captivating turquoise color. When we dive in, we can see the seabed with astonishing clarity, making it an ideal spot for snorkeling, even for beginners. The absence of strong currents and the shallow depth near the shore make it extremely safe, especially for the youngest members of the family. It is a true pleasure to swim in these waters, which often remain at a pleasant temperature during the summer months, inviting us to cool off from the Greek heat.
