The island does not have its own airport, so the main access is by ferry or catamaran from ports like Volos, Agios Konstantinos, or Kymi on the Greek mainland, or from the nearby islands of Skiathos and Skopelos, which do have airports and international connections. Once in Patitiri, the main port of Alonissos, the journey to the beach is relatively simple and scenic.

Playa de Agios Dimitrios is located on the east coast of the island, about 15 kilometers northeast of Patitiri. We recommend several options to get there:

• Rental car or scooter: This is, without a doubt, the most comfortable and flexible way to explore the island and reach the beach. There are several rental agencies in Patitiri. The road to Agios Dimitrios is well-paved and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Aegean and the island's interior. The journey takes approximately 25-30 minutes, depending on traffic and the inevitable photo stops you will make.
• Local bus: During the high season (June to September), Alonissos has a bus service connecting Patitiri with Chora (Old Town) and some of the most popular beaches, including Agios Dimitrios. The schedules are usually limited, so we advise you to check the frequencies at the Patitiri bus station or your accommodation. It is an economical option and allows you to enjoy the scenery without worries.
• Taxi: For those who prefer comfort without driving, taxis are available in Patitiri. It is a more expensive option, but direct and efficient, especially if you are traveling in a group. You can arrange a pickup time with the driver for the return trip.
• Boat tours: Some boat tours that sail along the coast of Alonissos or visit the Marine National Park include a stop at Playa de Agios Dimitrios. While it is not the most direct way to get there and spend the whole day, it is an excellent way to see the beach from the sea and enjoy a quick dip as part of a broader itinerary.
