How to Get to Playa de Aguete

Getting to Playa de Aguete is relatively straightforward, which adds to its appeal, especially for those traveling with children or seeking comfort. Its strategic location in Marín makes it accessible from various points in the province of Pontevedra.

By Car

From the city of Pontevedra, the journey is short and pleasant. We'll take the PO-11 towards Marín and, once in the municipality, follow the signs to the beaches. Aguete is well signposted. The estimated time from Pontevedra city is about 15-20 minutes. If we're coming from Vigo, the route is a bit longer, approximately 30-40 minutes, using the AP-9 and then turning off towards Marín. The advantage of going by car is the freedom of schedule and the ability to bring all your beach gear without effort.

Parking

One of the strong points of Playa de Aguete is the availability of parking areas nearby. Although during the busiest months, like July and August, it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot first thing in the morning, there are generally options. There are public car parks close by, some of them free, which facilitate access to the beach. We always recommend arriving early to secure a good spot and avoid unnecessary circling in the sun.

Public Transport

For those who prefer not to use a car, there are also public transport options. There are bus lines connecting Pontevedra with Marín and, within Marín, some local routes can get us close to the beach. It's advisable to check the specific timetables and stops, as they may vary depending on the season and day of the week. Although it's a viable option, we usually prefer the car for the flexibility it offers to explore the surroundings after a day at the beach.

When we talk about Playa de Aguete, two of its most outstanding features are, without a doubt, its sand and its waters. They are elements that define the experience and make it so special for us.

The Sand: A Blanket of Fine Golden Grain

The sand at Aguete is fine and of a pleasant golden color. When we step on it, we notice its softness, making it perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles, or simply lying down to enjoy the sun. We don't find annoying rocks or pebbles that make walking difficult, which is a relief, especially if we're with young children who crawl or play at the water's edge. This uniformity of the sand also contributes to the access to the water being very comfortable and gradual, without unexpected drops.

The Water: Calm and Clarity of the Estuary

The waters of Playa de Aguete are, in a word, calm. Being inside the Ría de Pontevedra, it is protected from the currents and strong waves of the open Atlantic.
