How to Get to Playa de Covas

Getting to Playa de Covas is surprisingly simple, which contributes to its popularity and accessibility. We always recommend planning the trip, especially if visiting during the high season, to ensure a hassle-free experience.

By Car

If we are coming from other parts of Galicia or Spain, the most comfortable way to get there is by car. The A-8 motorway (Autovía del Cantábrico) will leave us near Viveiro. Once in the vicinity of the city, we will take the exit towards Viveiro and follow the N-642 road, which will guide us directly to the urban center and, subsequently, to the Covas area. The beach is perfectly signposted and is an integral part of Viveiro's urban fabric. Regarding parking, the Covas area has various options. Along the promenade and adjacent streets, we will find regulated parking zones (ORA in some points during the summer) and also public parking lots, some of them quite spacious, although on days of high attendance it can be a bit more difficult to find a free spot. Therefore, if our visit is in the middle of August, we advise arriving early to secure a good spot.

By Public Transport

For those who prefer public transport, Viveiro is well connected by bus to other Galician cities like Lugo or A Coruña. Once at the Viveiro bus station, Playa de Covas is located at a distance that can be easily covered on foot (about 15-20 minutes from the center) or by taking an urban bus that connects the center of Viveiro with the Covas area. During the summer months, the frequency of these services usually increases, making access to the beach even easier without needing to use a car. Furthermore, the promenade that connects the center of Viveiro with Covas is a delight to walk, offering us spectacular views of the estuary and the natural surroundings.
