How to get to Playa de El Portil

Getting to Playa de El Portil is relatively easy, and the options vary if you come by car, bus or even if you are staying nearby and prefer a walk. We always recommend planning the route a little to avoid surprises and enjoy the journey from the very first moment.

By car

The most comfortable and flexible way to get to Playa de El Portil is undoubtedly by private car. From the city of Huelva, the journey is short and direct. You should take the A-497 towards Punta Umbría and, before reaching the urban centre of Punta Umbría, take the turn-off towards El Portil via the A-5058 road. The signage is clear and will guide you without problems. From Seville, the route is equally simple: take the A-49 towards Huelva and then the A-497. If you are coming from Portugal, the A-22/A-49 will bring you directly. Once in El Portil, you will find several parking areas, both free in the vicinity of the beach and some paid ones in high season. It is advisable to arrive early in the summer months to secure a good spot, as the influx is considerable.

By bus

For those who prefer not to drive or do not have their own vehicle, public transport is an excellent alternative. The company Damas offers regular lines connecting the city of Huelva with El Portil and Punta Umbría. There are also connections with other nearby towns. The schedules are usually frequent, especially during the summer season, although it is always advisable to check the company's website for the most up-to-date information on routes and timetables. The bus stop in El Portil will leave you a short distance from the beach, which facilitates access on foot.

Other means

If you are staying in Punta Umbría or nearby Flecha del Rompido, you can consider the bicycle option. The area has cycle lanes that will allow you to enjoy a pleasant ride while heading to the beach.
