When we think of Granada beaches, more well-known and crowded destinations often come to mind. However, Playa de Cambriles is a jewel that, while not virgin in the strictest sense, has managed to preserve an unparalleled natural charm and a relaxed atmosphere. With its approximately 550 meters in length, it gently extends along the coast, flanked by majestic cliffs that protect it from the wind and give it an intimate, sheltered atmosphere. It is a place where time seems to stand still, and the rhythmic sound of the waves becomes the only soundtrack of your getaway, inviting meditation and rest. From our experience, we can assure you that this Lújar/Gualchos beach offers that perfect combination of comfortable accessibility and the rewarding feeling of discovering a special, non-massive treasure, far from the hustle and bustle of major tourist hubs. How to Get to Playa de Cambriles

Getting to Playa de Cambriles is part of the adventure, although quite simple and straightforward. If we come from the A-7 motorway, the most convenient exit will be Castell de Ferro or Lújar/Gualchos, depending on our direction of origin. Once on the N-340 road, which winds picturesquely along the Granada coast, we must be very attentive to the signs. The beach is located right at the foot of this road, at a point where the slope eases, which makes car access quite easy and a comfortable option for everyone.

By Car

We always recommend a car for exploring this wonderful area of the Tropical Coast, as it gives us the absolute freedom to move at our leisure and easily discover hidden coves, charming villages, and spectacular viewpoints. There are parking areas, often unregulated and free, along the N-340 itself or on small turn-offs that go directly down to the beach. It is important to consider that in high season, especially during July and August, we may have to search a bit more or park a little further away and walk a few minutes, but the reward of enjoying this beach is well worth the small effort. The ease of access is, without a doubt, one of the advantages of Playa de Cambriles.

Public Transport

Public transport can be an option, but it's important to know that it may be more limited for getting directly to the beach. There are bus lines connecting coastal towns like Motril, Castell de Ferro, or La Mamola, but the nearest stop will likely leave us some distance away, requiring a walk to the shore. For a hassle-free experience that allows us to comfortably bring our umbrellas and coolers, the car is undoubtedly the best option for this Playa de Cambriles and for exploring its surroundings with total freedom. If you opt for the bus, be sure to check schedules and stops in advance.

The Sand and Water

One of the most distinctive and attractive features of Playa de Cambriles is certainly its composition. Here we won't find the fine, golden sand we might associate with other coasts, but a fascinating mix of darker, volcanic-origin sand and small pebbles or sea-polished stones. This particularity gives it a rustic, natural charm that we find deeply fascinating. Walking on it is a different and pleasant experience, and the contrast of its dark tone with the intense, bright blue of the sea is simply spectacular, creating a natural canvas worthy of a postcard. It's what we call a 'mixed' type of ground, which gives it a unique personality and contributes to its wild, authentic beauty.

As for the water, get ready for a true delight for the senses! The waters of Playa de Cambriles are famous and highly valued for their exceptional transparency and captivating turquoise hue, especially on sunny, windless days. Being sheltered by the surrounding cliffs, the beach usually has very gentle or practically no waves, making it perfect for a relaxing and safe swim, ideal for children to enjoy without worries and for swimming calmly. The water temperature, typical of the Tropical Coast, is pleasantly warm for much of the year, inviting us to a refreshing and restorative dip even in the shoulder months. We love diving into these waters and observing the rich and varied marine life hidden beneath its crystal-clear surface, making every swim a small adventure.

Despite its more natural and less developed character, Playa de Cambriles is not lacking in some essential services that help make our stay more comfortable and pleasant. It is important to note that we should not expect massive tourist infrastructure or large hotel complexes right on the beach, which is precisely part of its charm and what allows it to maintain its authenticity.
