How to get to Playa del Confital

Getting to Playa del Confital is relatively simple, although it requires a small effort that, we assure you, is worth it. Given its location at the tip of the La Isleta peninsula in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the access options are varied, allowing us to choose the one that best suits our adventure.

By car

If we choose to go by car, we must head towards the La Isleta neighborhood. From the center of Las Palmas, we will take the GC-1 heading north, or the Avenida Marítima to the Puerto de La Luz area. Once in La Isleta, we follow the signs towards El Confital. The road narrows and becomes more rural as we get closer. There is an informal parking area at the end of the paved road, just before the beach. It is important to consider that, being an unregulated parking lot, it can fill up quickly on busy days, especially on weekends or when the waves are good for surfing. We advise arriving early to secure a good spot.

By public transport

For those who prefer public transport, the 'guaguas' (buses) of Global and Guaguas Municipales offer several lines that reach the La Isleta neighborhood. From there, we will have to walk a stretch. The Guaguas Municipales lines that get closest are, for example, line 41 or line 12, which will drop us at stops near the start of the trail leading to the beach. The walk from the last bus stop to the beach can take between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on our pace. It is a pleasant walk, with views of the sea and volcanic landscape, but it is important to wear comfortable shoes.

On foot from Las Canteras

One of the most popular and picturesque ways to get to Playa del Confital is on foot, following the promenade from Playa de Las Canteras. This route takes us from the La Cícer area, at the end of Las Canteras, skirting the coast of La Isleta. It is a walk that gifts us with spectacular views of the Las Palmas bay and the Atlantic. The trail is well-marked and accessible, although there are sections with ups and downs. The duration of this walk is approximately 30-45 minutes from the end of Las Canteras, offering us a unique perspective of the transition from the urban beach to the wild one.

However, not everything is rock; there are also patches of volcanic sand, with a coarser grain and dark color, which mix with the other elements, creating a very particular mixed texture. This composition makes it an ideal beach for exploring, but perhaps not the most comfortable for lying down directly without a towel or thick mat. Water shoes can be a great ally, especially if we plan to walk along the shore or venture into the water.

The waters of Playa del Confital are, generally, of exceptional clarity. The absence of large crowds and the rocky nature of the seabed contribute to us being able to enjoy intense blue and green tones, inviting us to dive in. However, it is essential to consider that we are in an area open to the Atlantic, which means that currents can be strong and the swell, considerable. For this reason, the beach is highly appreciated by surfers, but it may not be the most suitable for a calm swim, especially for young children or inexperienced swimmers.
