How to Get to Playa de Maspalomas
Getting to Playa de Maspalomas is relatively easy, given its popularity and Gran Canaria's excellent infrastructure. We always recommend planning the journey a little to make the most of the day.
By Car
If we choose to rent a car, the GC-1 highway will take us directly to the south of the island. From Gran Canaria Airport, the journey takes approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Once in Maspalomas, we will find several parking areas, although they can fill up quickly during high season. The closest parking lots are usually near the Maspalomas Lighthouse or in the Meloneras area, from where we can access the beach on foot. It's important to remember that direct vehicle access to the dune area is prohibited to protect the natural environment.
By Public Transport
Gran Canaria has a good bus network, known as 'guaguas'. Several lines connect Playa de Maspalomas with other towns on the island, including Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the airport. The closest bus stops to the beach are 'Faro de Maspalomas' or 'Estación de Maspalomas', from where we can walk comfortably. It's an economical and sustainable option that many visitors choose.
