How to Get to Playa de Llafranc

Getting to Playa de Llafranc is relatively straightforward, with options varying depending on your starting point. We recommend planning your trip in advance to ensure the best experience.

By Car

The most comfortable and flexible way to reach the Palafrugell beach is by car. From Barcelona, the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes (about 130 km), taking the AP-7 highway towards Girona and then turning off onto the C-31 towards Palafrugell. Once in Palafrugell, the signs to Llafranc are clear. From Girona, the trip is even shorter, around 45 minutes (about 50 km) via the C-65 and then the C-31.

Parking: Playa de Llafranc has several parking areas, both paid and some free options on adjacent streets, although the latter are usually in high demand during peak season. There is an underground parking lot in the center of the village which is an excellent option. We always advise arriving early, especially in the summer months, to avoid parking problems.

By Public Transport

Although a car offers more freedom, it is also possible to reach Llafranc by public transport.

• Bus: From Barcelona or Girona, you can take a bus from the Sarfa company (part of the Moventis group) to Palafrugell. Once in Palafrugell, there are local buses connecting to Llafranc. Schedules are more frequent in summer. This option is ideal if you prefer to relax and not worry about parking.
• Train: There is no train station in Llafranc. The nearest station is Flaçà, about 25 km away, or Girona. From there, you would need to combine with a bus or taxi. We consider the direct bus from major cities to be the most practical option if you are not traveling by car.

Other Means

• Airports: Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO) is about 50 km from Llafranc, and Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) is about 130 km away. Both offer domestic and international flights, and from there you can rent a car or take a bus/train to Palafrugell.

The Sand and Water
