This cove, although not as large as other beaches in the area, has a particular charm that makes it unforgettable. It's one of those places where time seems to stand still, and nature shows itself in all its splendor, offering us a perfect refuge from the hustle and bustle.

When we think of Girona beaches, images of rocky coves and turquoise waters often come to mind. Cala Pola meets these expectations and surpasses them, adding a serene and family-friendly atmosphere. Its location, a bit away from the center of Tossa, contributes to that feeling of exclusivity and tranquility that we seek so much. How to get to Cala Pola

Getting to Cala Pola beach is part of the adventure and allows us to appreciate the winding landscapes of the Costa Brava. The cove is located about 4-5 kilometers north of the center of Tossa de Mar, in the direction of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, on the GI-682 road. This coastal road is famous for its curves and impressive panoramic views, so we recommend taking it easy and enjoying the journey.

By car

To get there by car, from Tossa de Mar, you should follow the GI-682 north. You will see signs for Camping Cala Pola, which is the main reference point. Access to the cove is through the camping facilities. During the high season, parking is usually paid and managed by the campsite itself. It's important to arrive early, especially in July and August, as the parking capacity is limited and the cove is very popular. Once you park, there is a short walk down to the sand, which is very manageable.

Other means of transport

Although the car is the most comfortable option, it is also possible to reach Cala Pola by walking along the famous Camino de Ronda (GR-92) from Tossa de Mar. This is an excellent option for hiking lovers, offering spectacular views of the coastline. The walk can take between 1 and 1.5 hours, depending on our pace and the stops we make to admire the landscape. Also, during the summer, some companies in Tossa offer boat trips that stop at nearby coves, and sometimes even at Cala Pola, which could be an interesting and picturesque alternative.

The sand and the water

Cala Pola beach welcomes us with a very characteristic combination of the Costa Brava: coarse sand mixed with small pebbles or gravel. Don't expect the fine, white sand of other latitudes; here the texture is different, but it has its own charm. This composition keeps the water incredibly clean and clear, as sediments are not easily stirred up by the movement of the waves. It's a delight for the feet and a clear indicator of the purity of the environment.

Water quality

The waters of Cala Pola are, without exaggeration, one of its biggest attractions. They are an intense turquoise blue, crystal clear, and generally calm, protected by the surrounding cliffs. This clarity is ideal for bathing and, above all, for snorkeling. From the moment we set foot in the water, we realize the richness of its marine life. We can see small fish, algae, and underwater rock formations with amazing ease. The water temperature is pleasant during the summer months, inviting long swims and exploration of its corners.

• Chiringuitos: On the cove itself or very close by, there is usually at least one chiringuito where we can have a cool drink, a snack, or even enjoy a light meal with sea views. It's the perfect place to recharge and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
• Parking: As mentioned, parking is paid and managed by the campsite, but it ensures us a place to leave the car, which is essential in an area where parking can be difficult.
• Showers: Having showers is a great relief after a day at the beach, allowing us to wash off the salt and sand before heading home or continuing with our activities.
• Lifeguard service: During the high season, the cove has a lifeguard service, which gives us additional peace of mind, especially if we are with children. Their presence is crucial to ensure the safety of all bathers.
• Sun umbrellas and sunbeds: For those seeking maximum comfort, it is possible to rent sun umbrellas and sunbeds on the cove itself, avoiding having to carry our own equipment. This allows us to fully relax under the Mediterranean sun.
