How to get to Playa de Langre

Getting to Playa de Langre is part of the adventure and requires a small effort that, we assure you, is absolutely worth it. Located in the municipal area of Ribamontán al Mar, its main access is by road to the village of Langre. Once there, follow the signs to the beach. You will see that there are designated parking areas at the top of the cliffs. It is important to arrive early in the high season, as the space, although generous, can fill up quickly due to the spot's popularity.

Beach access

From the parking lot, access to the sand is via a wooden staircase that descends the cliff. This descent, while suitable for most people, can be a bit demanding for those with reduced mobility or families with baby strollers. Therefore, we recommend traveling light if you come with small children or have any physical difficulties. The reward, upon stepping onto the fine sand, is instant and makes us forget any tiredness. For us, each step is one step closer to that natural paradise waiting for us below, on this incomparable Ribamontán al Mar beach.

The sand and the water

The sand of Playa de Langre is, for us, one of its great assets. It is a pale golden color, very fine and pleasant to the touch, perfect for walking barefoot or simply spreading out a towel and enjoying the sun. The 'ground type' is predominantly sand, making it very comfortable. Its length, approximately 900 meters, offers us ample space to find our spot, even on the busiest days. It is a beach that breathes spaciousness and freedom, far from the crowds of other more urbanized sandy beaches.

The waters of the Cantabrian Sea here are crystal clear and a deep blue, reflecting the purity of this environment. However, we must not forget that we are on the north coast of Spain, and its waters are usually cool, even in summer. Furthermore, Playa de Langre is known for its waves, making it a paradise for surfers, but it also demands caution. Currents can be strong, so we always recommend swimming responsibly and, if we are not expert swimmers, not venturing too far from the shore. The beauty of its waves is hypnotic, a constant spectacle that invites contemplation.

As we have already mentioned, Playa de Langre is characterized by its wild and natural character, which implies that services and facilities are limited, something we value positively as it helps preserve its original charm. Do not expect to find typical beach infrastructure here like in more touristy areas, and that is precisely what makes it so special.

Basic services

During the bathing season, the beach usually has a lifeguard service, which gives us extra peace of mind when enjoying the sea. They also usually have basic showers, generally with cold water, to rinse off the salt and sand before starting the journey back. The parking, as mentioned, is located at the top of the cliff, and its availability is crucial for comfortable access to the beach. You will not find beach bars directly on the sand, nor umbrella and sunbed rentals, which reinforces its pristine atmosphere. Our recommendation is to bring everything you need for the day: water, food, an umbrella if you need it, and of course, your camera to capture the essence of this Ribamontán al Mar beach.

Summer (June-September)

It is the most popular season, and for good reason. Temperatures are more pleasant, days are longer, and the lifeguard service is active. It is ideal for sunbathing, enjoying the beach, and if you are beginner surfers, you will find schools in the surrounding areas (like in Somo) that can get you started. However, be prepared for more crowds, especially on weekends and in August. Despite this, thanks to its size, Playa de Langre has never seemed excessively crowded to us.
