How to Get to Playa de Laidatxu

Getting to Playa de Laidatxu is surprisingly simple and part of the charm of visiting it. Being located in the very urban center of Mundaka, the beach is accessible on foot from any point in the town. If we come by car, Mundaka has several parking areas, especially near the port and the streets surrounding the center. During the high season, finding a spot can be a bit more challenging, so we always advise arriving early to secure our place. From the parking, a short and pleasant walk will take us directly to the sand.

For those who prefer public transport, Mundaka is well connected. We can arrive by bus from Bilbao or from nearby municipalities like Gernika or Bermeo. There is also the option of train (Euskotren) to Bermeo and from there take a bus that will drop us off in Mundaka. Once in the town, signs will guide us without problem to the beach. The proximity to the urban center is one of the great advantages of Playa de Laidatxu, as it allows us to combine a day of sun and sea with a stroll through the picturesque streets of Mundaka, its port, and its bars.

The Sand and Water

When we step onto Playa de Laidatxu, the first thing we notice is its fine, golden sand, which invites us to take off our shoes and feel it between our toes. It's soft, pleasant sand, perfect for spreading out a towel and enjoying the sun. Given its location inside the estuary, the waters of Laidatxu are notably calm and clear, making it an ideal place for swimming, especially for the little ones or for those seeking a relaxing dip without worrying about the big waves of the open Cantabrian Sea.
