Introduction
If there is one place that evokes the essence of the Mediterranean summer, it is Caldes d'Estrac, a picturesque municipality on the Maresme coast in Barcelona. And in the heart of this charming town, we find one of its most precious jewels: Kalima Beach. For us, this beach is not just a stretch of sand; it is a refuge, a canvas where family memories are painted and moments of pure disconnection are enjoyed. It is one of those beaches that, once you know it, you feel the need to return.
Kalima Beach integrates harmoniously into the seafront of Caldes d'Estrac, offering a perfect combination of natural beauty and quality services. Its name, which could well suggest calm and serenity, fits it perfectly. Here, time seems to slow down, inviting us to enjoy every ray of sunshine, every sea breeze, and the gentle murmur of the waves. It is a beach we have seen grow and evolve, always maintaining that welcoming essence that makes it so special.
We consider it a privileged destination for those seeking a tranquil atmosphere but with all the comforts. With its fine golden sand, its crystal-clear waters inviting for a swim, and infrastructure designed for visitor well-being, Kalima Beach stands as an unbeatable option for spending a day, a weekend, or a full vacation. It is a place where families find safety and fun, and where relaxation lovers can simply be and let the sea work its magic.
How to Get to Kalima Beach
Getting to Kalima Beach is relatively easy, and the transportation options are varied, which facilitates access for all types of travelers. We always recommend planning a little to avoid surprises, especially during high season.
By Car
If you come by car, the main access route is the C-32 highway, which runs along the entire Maresme coast. You should take the Caldes d'Estrac exit. Once in the town, follow the signs to the promenade or the beaches. Kalima Beach is located in the center of the beach area. Regarding parking, you will find paid public parking options near the promenade, as well as regulated parking zones (blue zone) on nearby streets. In the middle of summer, it can be a challenge to find a spot, so we advise arriving early or considering other alternatives.
By Train
For us, the train is one of the most comfortable and sustainable options to get to Caldes d'Estrac. The R1 line of Rodalies de Catalunya connects Barcelona (from stations like Plaça Catalunya or Sants) with Caldes d'Estrac. The Caldes d'Estrac train station is literally a stone's throw from the beach. When you get off the train, you just have to cross the underpass and you will be on the promenade, with Kalima Beach to your left or right, depending on the direction. It's wonderful not to have to worry about parking and to enjoy the sea views during the journey.
By Bus
There are also interurban bus lines connecting Caldes d'Estrac with other municipalities in Maresme and with Barcelona. The stops are usually located in central points of the town, from where you can walk to the beach in a few minutes. It is a practical option if you are coming from nearby towns.
On Foot or by Bicycle
If you are staying in Caldes d'Estrac or in a neighboring municipality connected by the promenade, such as Sant Vicenç de Montalt or Arenys de Mar, the best way to get there is by walking or cycling. The promenade is flat and offers spectacular views, making the journey part of the experience.
The Sand and the Water
The experience of a beach is largely defined by the quality of its sand and the clarity of its waters. At Kalima Beach, these two elements combine perfectly to offer an idyllic setting that we love.
Type of Sand
We are faced with a beach of fine, golden sand, characteristic of many beaches in Maresme. This sand, soft to the touch and pleasant to walk on, is ideal for children to build sandcastles effortlessly and for adults to relax comfortably on a towel. There are no annoying stones when entering the water, which is always a plus, especially for the little ones or those with sensitive feet. The feeling of the sand under our feet while walking along the shore is, without a doubt, one of the small pleasures this beach offers.
Water Quality
The waters of Kalima Beach are, in general, crystal clear and clean. It is no coincidence that this beach has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, a distinction that certifies the excellent water quality, safety, environmental management, and services it offers. For us, the Blue Flag is a guarantee that we are in a place where the environment is cared for and the well-being of bathers is looked after. Being able to immerse ourselves in these waters, knowing they meet the highest quality standards, is a priceless peace of mind.
Sea Conditions
One of the great advantages of Kalima Beach is its calm waters and minimal waves. The configuration of the coast in this area of Maresme, combined with the orientation of the beach, protects it from stronger currents, creating a kind of perfect natural pool for bathing. The entry into the sea is gentle and gradual, making it very safe for young children learning to swim or for those who simply enjoy splashing in the shallows. We always appreciate this calm, as it allows us to relax without worries and fully enjoy the swim.
