Far from the hustle and bustle of big cities, yet just a step away, Garraf presents itself as a refuge of calm and natural beauty, wrapped in an almost postcard-like atmosphere. What distinguishes Playa de Garraf from many others on the Barcelona coast are its iconic white wooden cottages, former fishermen's residences that now add an unmatched charm to the landscape. How to Get to Playa de Garraf

Getting to Playa de Garraf is surprisingly simple, making it a very accessible option for a getaway. We always recommend the train as the most comfortable and sustainable option. The Rodalies de Catalunya station (R2 Sud line) in Garraf is literally right on the beach, meaning that when you step off the train, you'll already be on the sand. It's an unbeatable convenience that allows us to avoid the stress of traffic and parking, especially during high season.

If we prefer to go by car, the beach is accessible via the C-31 (the 'Garraf coast road') which connects Castelldefels with Sitges. The journey is spectacular, offering impressive views of the coastline. However, parking in Garraf can be limited, especially during summer weekends and holidays. There are some paid parking areas, but they tend to fill up quickly. Therefore, if we opt for the car, we advise arriving early to secure a good spot and enjoy the day without worries. From Sitges, the drive is just 10-15 minutes, and from Barcelona, approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Garraf gifts us with a high-quality beach experience thanks to its natural characteristics. The sand is fine and a pleasant golden color, very pleasant to the touch and perfect for laying out a towel and relaxing. It's clean, well-maintained sand that invites you to walk barefoot and build sandcastles, an activity the little ones will greatly enjoy. The beach's length, although not excessively long (about 400 meters), is sufficient to find our space, even on busier days.

As for the water, it's one of Garraf's greatest attractions. Its waters are calm and crystal-clear, with a blue-green hue that invites you for a swim. The shoreline has a gentle slope, making it a very safe place for children and for those who don't feel entirely comfortable in deep water. The absence of strong currents and waves makes it a paradise for bathing and splashing around. It's a true pleasure to immerse yourself in these waters, which often hold the Blue Flag distinction, a seal of quality certifying their excellent condition and the cleanliness of their services. We consider it ideal for swimming, floating, and simply enjoying the serenity of the Mediterranean.

Playa de Garraf, despite its size and village-like atmosphere, surprises us with a good range of services and facilities that guarantee a comfortable and pleasant beach day. As mentioned, the beach usually holds a Blue Flag, which already gives us a clue about the quality of its amenities.

• Lifeguards: During the bathing season, the beach has a lifeguard service, which gives us great peace of mind, especially if we're with children.
• Showers and Toilets/WCs: Essential for freshening up after a swim and maintaining hygiene. The toilets are usually clean and well-maintained.
• Sunbed and Umbrella Rental: For those who prefer not to carry their own equipment, there's the possibility to rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds, making relaxation under the sun easier.
• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: Several establishments right on the beach or very close to it offer us everything from drinks and ice creams to more elaborate meals. The chiringuitos in Garraf are famous for their relaxed atmosphere and sea views, ideal for an aperitif or an informal meal. There are also restaurants with options for all tastes.
• Parking: Although limited, there are parking areas nearby, some of them paid, as already mentioned.
