How to Get to Playa del Carritxal

Getting to Playa del Carritxal is part of the adventure, and although it's not complicated, it requires paying attention to the signs. We always advise planning your route well to avoid setbacks. The cove is located on a stretch of coast connecting Villajoyosa with El Campello, and the most common way to access it is via the CV-770 road. This road winds along the coast, offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean, but it's important to watch out for turn-offs.

Access by Car

If you're coming by car, which is the most comfortable option for reaching this more secluded cove, you should take the CV-770. From Villajoyosa, head north, and from El Campello, head south. There are several entrances or dirt tracks leading to areas where you can park. Don't expect an organized parking lot with marked spaces; parking is usually informal, on the sides of the road or in small dirt clearings created by users themselves. It's essential to respect the environment and not block access or paths.

Once you've parked your car, you'll need to continue on foot along a path that descends to the cove. The path isn't excessively long, but it does have a certain slope and can be uneven, with loose stones. Therefore, we strongly recommend wearing comfortable and appropriate footwear, such as sneakers or closed-toe sandals, instead of flip-flops, to avoid slips or sprains. The descent will reward you with impressive views of the cove and the sea, which will already give you a hint of what awaits you.

Public Transport

As for public transport, Playa del Carritxal is harder to reach. There are no bus or tram lines that go directly to the cove. The closest stops would be in the urban centers of Villajoyosa or El Campello, and from there you would have to take a taxi or, if you're very adventurous, walk several kilometers along the road and then along the path. For this reason, we consider a private car to be the best option for enjoying this beach stress-free. However, if you decide to use public transport, plan your schedules and distances well.
