How to Get to Playa de Lago

Getting to Playa de Lago is relatively straightforward, although we recommend using a car for greater comfort and to explore the surroundings. From Muxía, the journey is short, following the signs to the beach. The road that leads us there is picturesque, winding through vegetation and offering us a first glimpse of the coastal landscape. Regarding parking, the beach usually has a designated area, which is a great advantage during the busier months.

Access by Car

If we're coming from A Coruña or Santiago de Compostela, we'll take the AG-55 highway to Carballo and then continue on the AC-429 and AC-440 towards Muxía. Once in Muxía, the signs will guide us without difficulty to Playa de Lago. The access is comfortable and well-signposted, making it very easy to reach this hidden paradise.

Public Transport

Although public transport in this area of the Costa da Morte is more limited, there are bus lines connecting Muxía with other nearby towns. However, to get directly to the beach from the center of Muxía, the most practical option would be a short walk or a taxi, as the frequency of buses passing by the beach itself is low. We always advise checking schedules in advance if you choose this option.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Lago delights us with sand of exceptional quality: fine, golden, and very pleasant to the touch. It's perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the little ones, or simply spreading out our towel and enjoying the sun. The width of the beach, about 550 meters, allows us to always find a quiet spot, even on the busiest days. The cleanliness of the sand is another point to highlight, contributing to the feeling of well-being that permeates the place.

As for the water, it's one of the most distinctive elements of this beach. Its waters are notably calmer than those of other beaches on the Costa da Morte, thanks to the protection offered by the surrounding geographical features. Summer (June - September)

If our main goal is swimming and fully enjoying all the services, summer is, without a doubt, the best option. During these months, temperatures are more pleasant, the lifeguard service is active, and the chiringuitos offer their gastronomic options. It's the busiest time, but thanks to its size, Playa de Lago rarely feels crowded. The days are long and sunny, perfect for spending the entire day at the beach.
