How to Get to Playa de Combouzas

Getting to Playa de Combouzas is relatively easy, which contributes to its popularity. If we're coming from A Coruña, the drive takes about 20-25 minutes. We'll take the AC-552 road towards Arteixo and, once in the municipality, follow the signs to the beaches. The signage is clear and will guide us without problems to our destination.

Access and Parking

One of the great advantages of this Arteixo beach is the availability of a large free parking lot, especially in the area closest to the services. During the summer months, and especially on weekends, this parking lot can fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early to secure a good spot. Once parked, access to the sand is comfortable and direct, via walkways that respect the dune environment. Although it doesn't have 'full accessibility' for people with very reduced mobility in the strictest sense (like amphibious chairs), it does have ramps that facilitate access to the sandy area for most users.

The Sand and the Water

Playa de Combouzas welcomes us with an expanse of approximately 600 meters of fine golden sand, a distinctive feature of many beaches of A Coruña. It's perfect sand for walking barefoot, building sandcastles, or simply spreading out a towel and enjoying the sun. The width of the beach allows that, even on the busiest days, we can always find a spot for ourselves.

The Atlantic Waters

The waters of Combouzas are those of the powerful Atlantic Ocean: cool, clean, and of an intense blue-green color. It's important to consider that, being a beach open to the Atlantic, the waves are usually moderate or strong, especially on windy days. This makes it a paradise for surfers, but also requires caution for swimmers, especially the little ones. However, the beach has lifeguard service during the summer season, which provides us with additional safety. The water quality is excellent, as evidenced by the usual presence of the Blue Flag, a mark of environmental quality and services.

Playa de Combouzas stands out not only for its natural beauty but also for the complete range of services it offers its visitors. This makes it a very comfortable option for spending an entire day on the coast.

• Lifeguards: During the high season, the beach has a team of lifeguards who watch over our safety, indicating the sea conditions with flags and providing assistance if necessary.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: We find shower facilities to rinse off salt and sand after swimming, as well as public restrooms, which is always a plus for comfort.
• Chiringuitos: Several beach bars set up on the beach during the summer, offering refreshing drinks, ice cream, and some fast-food options. They are perfect for a snack without moving too far from the sand.
• Parking: As already mentioned, we have a large free parking lot, although it's busy during the high season.
• Umbrella and Sunbed Rental: For those who prefer not to carry their own equipment, there is the possibility of renting umbrellas and sunbeds, thus guaranteeing a day of relaxation under the Galician sun.
• Blue Flag: The presence of the Blue Flag is a seal of guarantee that certifies the excellent water quality, the cleanliness of the sand, and the availability of essential services.

Summer: Vibrant and Busy

The summer months (July and August) are, without a doubt, the most popular. During this time, the beach buzzes with activity: families enjoy the sun, surfers ride the waves, and the chiringuitos are in full swing. It's the ideal time if we're looking for a lively atmosphere, warmer temperatures for swimming, and the guarantee of all services. However, it's also when we'll find the largest crowds.

Spring and Autumn: Tranquility and Surf

If we prefer tranquility or are surfing enthusiasts, spring (May and June) and autumn (September and October) are excellent times.
