How to Get to Playa de Zrće

Getting to Playa de Zrće is part of the adventure, and although there is no airport directly on the island of Pag, connectivity is quite good. We, as travel experts, recommend several options to make your arrival as comfortable as possible:

By Plane

The nearest airports are Zadar (ZAD), approximately 80-90 km away, and Split (SPU), about 180 km away. Zadar is, without a doubt, the most practical option. From both airports, you can take a direct bus to Novalja, the main town on the island of Pag and the starting point to reach Zrće, or rent a car for greater flexibility.

By Car and Ferry

If you're traveling by car from the mainland, you have two options to reach the island of Pag:

• Pag Bridge: To the south of the island, it connects Pag with the mainland near Zadar. It's the most common route and does not require a ferry.
• Prizna – Žigljen Ferry: To the north of the island, it's a shorter route if you're coming from Rijeka or Istria. The ferry operates very frequently during the summer.

By Bus

There are direct bus lines from major Croatian cities like Zagreb, Split, and Zadar to Novalja. This is an economical and efficient option, especially if you're traveling without your own vehicle. Once in Novalja, as mentioned, local buses will take you directly to Playa de Zrće.

The Sand and Water

When we talk about Playa de Zrće, it's important to highlight its natural characteristics. We find a beach that, unlike many others on the Adriatic coast, is not fine sand. Instead, the predominant ground type is pebble, mixed with some areas of coarse sand. This means it's advisable to wear suitable footwear for walking along the shore and entering the water, although the pebbles are generally small and polished, making them quite comfortable.

What really fascinates us about Zrće is the water quality. The Adriatic Sea here is incredibly crystal clear, with shades ranging from turquoise blue to emerald. The water's transparency invites a refreshing dip and allows you to easily see the seabed. Furthermore, the waters are usually calm, making them perfect for swimming and enjoying water sports. Playa de Zrće is famous for its leisure infrastructure, which is, frankly, impressive. The services and facilities here are designed to meet all the needs of visitors, especially those who come to enjoy the party and the sun. We have been amazed by the quantity and quality of what is offered:

• Chiringuitos and Clubs: This is the heart of Zrće. You'll find a row of open-air mega-clubs like Papaya, Aquarius, Kalypso, and Noa Beach Club, which function as beach bars during the day and transform into giant nightclubs at night. They offer music, drinks, pools, and an unmatched atmosphere.
• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: During the day, there are numerous areas where you can rent comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas to relax and sunbathe between parties.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: Essential for any beach, and at Zrće they are well distributed and maintained, allowing you to freshen up after a dip or before continuing with the fun.
• Lifeguards: During the high season, the beach has lifeguards who watch over the safety of swimmers, giving us additional peace of mind.
• Parking: Given the beach's popularity, there are large paid parking areas near the entrance, although in high season they can fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early or using public transport from Novalja.
