How to Get to Playa de Kiten (Atliman)

Getting to Playa de Kiten (Atliman) is relatively straightforward, and part of its charm lies in its location slightly removed from the main bustle of the town of Kiten. For those traveling from abroad, the nearest airport is Burgas (BOJ), about 60 kilometers away. From there, we recommend renting a car for complete freedom of movement and to explore the surrounding area as well. The drive takes about an hour.

Once in Kiten, Atliman beach is located north of the town center. There is signage, although it's not always very conspicuous. The best approach is to head towards the northern end of Kiten and follow the road that runs along the coast. There are nearby parking areas, often paid during the high season, which facilitates access for those traveling with luggage or beach gear. It's also possible to walk from some hotels in northern Kiten, adding a pleasant morning or evening stroll. For those who prefer public transport, there are buses connecting Kiten with other cities in the region, but to reach this specific beach, a local taxi or your own car are the best options.

The Sand and Water

If there's something that captivates us about Playa de Kiten (Atliman), it's undoubtedly the quality of its sand and the clarity of its waters. The sand here is fine, of a soft golden color that invites you to walk barefoot and build sandcastles effortlessly. • Sunbeds and Umbrellas: On the beach, it's possible to rent sunbeds and umbrellas, allowing you to enjoy the sun comfortably without worrying about bringing your own equipment. Prices are reasonable and the service is efficient.
• Chiringuitos: There are several chiringuitos and small beach bars where we can refresh ourselves with a cold drink, enjoy an ice cream, or even savor a snack or light meal. These establishments contribute to a relaxed, holiday atmosphere.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: Showers are available to rinse off sand and salt after swimming, as well as public toilets/WC, maintained in acceptable condition. This is fundamental for visitor comfort.
• Equipment Rental: At some points, basic equipment rental for water leisure is offered, such as pedal boats or small watercraft, perfect for exploring the bay.
• Parking: As mentioned before, there is parking close to the beach, facilitating access for those arriving by car.

Best Time to Visit

For us, the best time to visit Playa de Kiten (Atliman) and, in general, the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, is during the summer months. We're talking about June, July, and August, when temperatures are warmest, the sun shines brightly, and the water temperature is ideal for swimming. July and August are the busiest months, when the beach and services are in full operation, offering a vibrant atmosphere without becoming overwhelming like on other European coasts.
